The Great Smoky Mountains are some of the oldest mountains in the world and you'll soon see why this is the most visited national park in America. To make sure you see as much as possible, the first afternoon is spent in the town of Gatlinburg where you can do some moonshine tasting at a distillery, pop into the park to the visitor centre or just stretch your legs with a short walk. The following day you enter the park with a mixture of driving and walking to really maximize your time in the wonderful scenery! Keep your eyes peeled for white-tailed deer, groundhogs and chipmunks, as well as the American Black Bears that call these mountains home.

Learn about the history of country music at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, home to the largest collection of country music in the world, or head to the bars on Broadway to hear live bands. One thing's for sure, it's not called 'Music City' for nothing!

Trek America Vlog Part 1 - New Orleans to Smoky Mountains, Deep South

Reviewed January 2017

This was my first trip to the USA, and I went with my sister who has done 2 previously and has always raved about it. 3 months later, and I'm still not over it! It's true that your most memorable moments will be the unexpected (usually silly ones). ...Like playing crazy golf in Gatlinburg for a good 3 hours, long after the complex had closed and the lights went off; being chased by zombies and clowns in Birmingham (google Sloss Fright Furnance!); ignoring all the famous Blues bars on Beale street and instead doing the macarena in a crazy 70's disco club...
