Itinerary

Our routes have been carefully chosen to include the best night stops, highlights, and included experiences, and lots of optional activities to choose from. With stops at some of your tour leader's favourite places and occasional changes to the itinerary no two Trek trips are the same, so get ready for one awesome adventure.

You will meet your tour leader and group at 1800 hrs in the hotel lobby on day 1. Full details will be sent with your final documentation. If you would like to book additional nights before your tour please request at the time of booking.

2020 Itinerary

Welcome to Cusco, Peru! Venture out with your tour leader around downtown Cusco, where you’ll visit the facade of Qoricancha temple, the local San Pedro market and Regocijo Square, just to name a few. Come night-time, get to know your group over a bowl of lomo Saltado or local ceviche.

Enjoy an exhilarating hike up to the campsite, after meeting your crew of local porters, cook and guide. On the way, you’ll see the mysterious ruins of Llactapata, which were burnt to the ground by the last Inca emperor to discourage Spanish pursuit down the trail. In the evening, we set up camp, while the cook makes dinner to get you ready for a hard days trekking.

Climb through the Pacaymayo Valley to the stunning Runkuracay pass. Take in the views of the snow-capped mountain of Cordillera Vilcabamba before descending towards the lesser-known ruins of Sayacmarca. Continue to the misty ruins of Phuyupatamarca, also known as 'Town Above the Clouds'. We then begin our descent to the final night's campsite by the Winay Wayna archaeological site.

Today’s the day we catch the first glimpse of the mystifying “Lost City of the Incas”, starting before dawn with breakfast at 4.30 am. After say farewell to the porters, we hike to the original entrance of Machu Picchu, Intipunku (the Sun Gate) for unforgettable views overlooking the ancient citadels. After your camera’s sufficiently died, it's time to return to Cusco for a well-deserved shower and a tingling pisco sour.

Your Inca Trek & Machu Picchu adventure may be coming to an end, but should you want to tackle the Rainbow Mountain, one of Cusco’s Instagram sensations, our leaders can help you book, should you find the sudden urge to hug a llama at its vibrant summit.
