Itinerary

Our routes have been carefully chosen to include the best night stops, highlights, and included experiences, and lots of optional activities to choose from. With stops at some of your tour leader's favourite places and occasional changes to the itinerary no two Trek trips are the same, so get ready for one awesome adventure.

You will meet your tour leader and group at 1800 hrs in the hotel lobby on day 1. Full details will be sent with your final documentation. If you would like to book additional nights before your tour please request at the time of booking.

2020 Itinerary

Arrive in Quito, 2,800 meters above sea level, this city is surrounded by epic mountains and volcanoes. We’d recommend hitting up the Old Town and the Plaza San Francisco, then head to El Panecillo (The Little Bread Loaf) for awe-inspiring panoramas.

Today we head to Otavalo Market, and explore the winding streets that surround the Plaza de los Ponchos, Ecuador’s largest indigenous market! Afterwards, sample some of Old Town’s wacky ice cream flavours – morocho corn or quinoa anyone?

Explore the Ecuadorian great outdoors hiking or maybe head to the hot springs of Las Piscinas de la Virgen, for some well-deserved R&R.

Hike to the Devils Cauldrom waterfall or explore the Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Agua Santa (a basilica dedicated to the Virgin of the Holy Water).

Tackle the uphill ascent towards the eerie ruins of Llactapata, which was burnt to the ground by the last Inca emperor.

Head to 'Dead Woman's Pass', Warmiwanusca and then descend to Pacaymayo Valley at 3,650 metres.

Start the day with a climb to Runkuracay pass before descending to the ruins of Sayacmarca. After admiring Phuyupatamarca, known as 'Town Above the Clouds' we camp near the Winay Wayna archaeological site.

Say farewell to the porters and take on the walk to Intipunku (the Sun Gate) to get unforgettable views over the ‘Lost City of the Incas’.

Tour Lake Titicaca and take a serene motorboat cruise towards the Uros floating islands, to learn more about the Uros people. Come evening, enjoy a traditional homestay on Llachon.

Welcome to Bolivia's bustling capital city. Take some time to get used to the 3600-metre altitude before heading into the city to see the sights, why not take a guided city tour to get the best of a city nicknamed ‘Our Lady of Peace’.

Tonight you'll board an overnight bus to Uyini. Make sure you get some shut eye on the drive because there's a long way to go!

Your overnight bus will drop you in Uyuni, a tiny city in the middle of salt flats, mountains and llamas! Be sure to wrap up warm for Salar De Uyuni's famously cool climate as you start an epic three-day 4WD excursion, including Salar de Uyuni – the world’s largest salt flats.

Dodge the volcanoes and lakes as you drive through the spectacular Andean (Atacama) Desert. Watch out for llamas, flamingos, viscachas and foxes by the red waters of Laguna Colorada and be sure to take it easy at a high altitude of 4900-metres.

This morning you'll have the change to enjoy hot springs, thermal baths and geysers. Wave goodbye to Bolivia when you cross the border in Chile, and say hello to the wonderful oasis town of San Pedro de Atacama. Spend your free time exploring the town's central plaza and many museums on your free afternoon.

You've got a long drive ahead of you today so make sure you pack some snacks! You'll cross into Argentina and make your way to Salta, a colonial town filled with friendly locals and surrounded by spectacular scenery. Don't forget to check out Plaza 9 de Julio for its gardens, fountains and historic buildings.

You've got a free day in Salta today, so make the most of it by hiking the 1070 steps to the summit of Cerro San Bernardo, a mountain that sits above the town. There's also a gondola for those that would rather not walk!

Fly to Buenos Aires and get ready for the hustle and bustle of Argentina's biggest city. Take to the cobbled streets of San Telmoand have a look at the antique markets, then make your way to Plaza de Mayo to see the nation's amazing presidential palace.

You've got plenty of time to explore this amazing city, but make sure you choose wisely! Walk amongst the tombs at La Recoleta Cemetery, visit the artistic neighbourhood of Recoleta or try the museums of the Recoleta district to learn about the history of the city. If you're a sports fan, you can't miss the neighbourhood of La Boca, home to the world-reknowned Boca Juniors.

Welcome to Brazil's most famous city. You'll have plenty of time to explore the beaches and stare at the beautiful scenery of the harbour. If's that not enough, get above the clouds and see Christ the Redemmer towering above the sprawling city. Avoid James Bond villains as you take the cable car to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain to watch the sunset. When it gets dark, party in the samba clubs of Lapa!
