The Most Unmissable Rides at Universal Studios, Orlando

  • Universal Studios, Orlando

One of the biggest decisions you'll have to make on one of our East Coast USA tours that passes through Orlando is which of the resort city's theme parks you want to spend a day in! With plenty of choice, it might be tough coming to a decision - but we've found Universal Studios to be a Trekker favourite. If you're planning on spending the day in this world of TV and movies brought to life, these are the rides you won't want to miss out on!

(FYI - these attractions are spread across the original Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. You'll need a dual ticket to visit both, but we thoroughly recommend it!)

Harry Potter and The Escape From Gringotts (Universal Studios)

Harry Potter Escape From Gringotts ride at Universal Studios

Potterheads will probably be waving their wands in excitement already at the prospect of Harry Potter’s Wizarding World. And it’s AMAZING. Even if you’ve only caught a couple of the movies, you’ll be blown away by the levels of detail that have gone into creating the world. The Escape From Gringotts ride is a true whirlwind, with most of the action coming from motion simulator effects rather than thrill-ride acrobatics.

Jurassic Park: The Ride (Islands of Adventure)

Who doesn’t love a good ol’ water ride. With impressive scenery that genuinely feels like you’re in the jungle, your boat takes you through the gates of Jurassic Park itself – complete with THAT infamous theme song. But the idyllic journey soon turns to chaos. An upward climb in the dark with  scary sound effects leads to the crux of the ride, where you’ll make one big splash!

The Incredible Hulk Coaster (Islands of Adventure)

It’s big, it’s green, it’s fast…and it’s awesome. Starting with a powerful launch, riders loop and swoop through 7 inversions with speeds up to 67mph. This is one rollercoaster that definitely won’t make you angry!

The Simpsons Ride (Universal Studios)

The Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios

Who doesn’t love catching up with our favourite yellow family from Springfield? Another motion-simulator style ride, the family face Sideshow Bob in the wacky world of ‘Krustyland’, before taking in the well-known sights of Springfield town and a few familiar faces.

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey (Islands of Adventure)

Harry Potter Wizarding World at Universal Studios

Another Harry Potter ride, this time on the 'Hogsmeade' side of the Wizarding World. The queue experience is almost a ride in itself, as you make your way through Hogwarts castle, through well-known classrooms and past familiar artifacts from the films, including the Mirror of Erised. The ride itself is equally entertaining, as you encounter Quidditch players, dragons and much more.

Men In Black: Alien Attack (Universal Studios)

Men In Black: Alien Attack at Universal Studios

One of the more underrated rides at Universal Studios in our humble opinion, Men In Black: Alien Attack is an interactive shoot ‘em up ride with plenty of alien zapping action. Queue tip: there’s a separate queue for single riders, so if you’re not worried about being next to your mates, you’ll get on a lot faster!

Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit (Universal Studios)

One of Universal Studios’ more classic coasters, you jump on board quick, lower your restraint select your own choice of in-flight music - and you’re off! An on-ride video recorder keeps a record of your most attractive facial expressions as you scream your way around the track.

Revenge of the Mummy (Universal Studios)

Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Studios Orlando

Despite running at relatively low speeds and no inversions, Revenge of the Mummy combines the ups and downs of a fun coaster with spooky special effects and animatronics to deliver a ride experience that’s truly thrilling. Whether you’re old enough to remember the original movies or just a fan of theme park attractions, don’t miss the Mummy!
