Our routes have been carefully chosen to include the best overnight stops, highlights and included experiences, with plenty of optional activities to choose from. No two Trek trips are the same, with stops at some of your tour leader's favourite places and occasional changes to the itinerary, so get ready for one awesome adventure!

As this tour departs at 07:30 hrs we recommend that you book pre tour accommodation. Please request further details at time of booking.

This tour links together our Freedom Trail and Western Wonder tours. Your tour leader may change and your group will not be escorted during the en route flight (Day 9).

Your first stop is Philadelphia, or 'Philly' if you want to be down with the locals! Check out the Liberty Bell and cast your eyes on Independence Hall where brave men gathered and defied the King of England, an event which helped shape the US Constitution. You may want to head down to Reading Terminal Market for local mouth-watering aromas and local flavours, and to try a famous and oh-so-delicious Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Work it off with a climb up the famous steps from the movie 'Rocky'!  Next you head to the nation's capital, Washington DC. Hiring a bike is a great way to see the city and spot the famous monuments and the White House. When it comes to DC's museums, 'The land of the free' is spot on and the sensational Smithsonian is well worth a visit for all you culture vultures.

This road trip is just about to get epic as you visit Niagara Falls. With three waterfalls all rolled into one, Mother Nature should definitely be proud of this natural wonder! From the edge of Lake Ontario you'll see the cascades pouding down and the noise is immense! For the ultimate front row seat, hop aboard your included 'Maid of the Mist' cruise and get up close to the majestic falls...  just be prepared to get a little wet!

City folk can't resist hiding out here in the summer months and you'll soon figure out why. With forested hills and meadows skirting quaint clapboard farms, you'll camp lakeside and have free time to hit the water for a swim or try your hand at kayaking. This is the life! Enjoy the wild landscape, before you head back to city life tomorrow.

With two nights in Boston, or ‘Bean Town’ as the locals call it, you’ll have plenty of time to explore! Relive the Revolution as you walk the famous Freedom Trail through the city, visiting historical sites that uncover the city's significant past in the battle for independence. Lounge and watch the locals on Boston Common, then pop across to Faneuil Hall or Quincy Market for delicious local food stalls. Boston is famous for its baseball and football teams so try to catch the Red Sox or New England Patriots in action, then take your pick from hundreds of Irish bars dotted around the city, or head to the famous 'Cheers' bar for a cheeky beverage.

We head back to the 'Garden State' of New Jersey, where our adventure began, and the remainder of the evening is free for you to explore before you fly to the West Coast tomorrow. This is a great opportunity to head into the city and see neon New York at night, watch a Broadway show or hit the clubs.

Transfer to the airport and after a flight with the other Trekkers on your tour to the cosmopolitan city of Los Angeles, it's time to meet your West Coast tour leader and head to the hotel where the remainder of the day is yours to relax. If you're ready for action, venture out and explore Venice Beach for some eclectic people watching and try some surfing or simply soak up the Californian sunshine! Please note: your group will not be accompanied on your flight, but will be met in Los Angeles by a new tour leader.

After a short tour of Hollywood and the Walk of Fame, you'll leave city life behind you and travel through California to the vast cactus-prickled desert of Arizona. Take a dip in the Colorado River and spend the evening in nearby Laughlin. Get that campfire roaring and the s'mores toasting!

It's time to head to America's premier national park and you'll soon see why this epic natural wonder attracts tons of visitors each year. Keep your feet firmly on the ground on the rim trails or swoop above the stunning landscape on an optional helicopter flight. One thing's for sure, this place looks incredible from any angle, but to see it in all its majestic glory, watch the sun rise or set over the canyon. Trust us when we say you'll never have seen anything so beautiful!

Today you drive along a section of the original route 66 to the town of Seligman which stands frozen in time and is a great place to pick up some fab Route 66 memorabilia for your friends and family back home. Perhaps treat yourself to an ice cream at the Snow Cap Diner! Once you've had your fill of pure Americana, next up is Las Vegas for the ultimate party! The Strip, the shows, the over the top hotels; Sin City's glitziest and hottest spots are sure to impress as you cruise the Las Vegas Boulevard on an included limo ride! If heights don't scare you, head to the top of the Stratosphere to ride some of the world's highest roller coasters, and if you want even more then take a helicopter flight down The Strip and see this neon city from the sky. It's also very possible to get married in Vegas (don't worry, it's not legally binding unless you want it to be) so live for the moment!

Leave the desert behind you and head west through the beautiful Californian countryside to one of America's best loved national parks, Yosemite. Here you'll get the opportunity to hike or bike through an extraordinary landscape that was the inspiration for famous American photographer, Ansel Adams. Be awed by glacier-carved granite peaks towering above spectacular waterfalls. Once you hit the trails, keep your eyes peeled and your cameras at the ready for wildlife sightings. Bear often frequent the area and when the sun goes down listen out for coyotes howling amidst the pines and Giant Sequoia trees. This is a paradise for any lover of the outdoors and whatever activities you get up to in Yosemite, you're sure to have a blast.

On your last day with your fellow Trekkers you head back to the bright lights of California's West Coast, but to another awesome city this time. San Francisco is famous for one of the world's most iconic landmarks, the Golden Gate Bridge, and you'll want to walk across to see it up close. Explore the quirky bars and cafes where the Beat Generation hung out or grab a bite to eat in Chinatown. Grab your new-found friends and say goodbye in style! If you can't bear for your trip to end, add a few extra days on to your epic American road trip and explore the 'City by the Bay' yourself.

This tour ends at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.

AIRPORT TRANSFER INFORMATION - NEWARK AIRPORT

Transportation from Newark International Airport is the cheapest and most convenient. From Baggage Claim at the airport, take the AIRTRAIN to station P4 and wait for the Hilton Newark Airport Complimentary Shuttle. This will bring you directly to the Hotel and a shuttle arrives/departs every 15-20 minutes. The journey will take approximately 10mins, depending on traffic. It is customary to tip the driver who helps you with your bag ($1-$2 per bag).

 

AIRPORT TRANSFER INFORMATION - JFK & LA GUARDIA AIRPORTS

From both JFK and La Guardia airports you must first transfer to New York Penn Station located at 31st and 7th Streets in Midtown Manhattan and then take another transfer to Newark International Airport. 

1). To transfer from the airport to New York Penn Station: 
By Shuttle: You can pre-book your transfer on the Super Shuttle website by searching for "Penn Station" landmark when prompted. A shared transfer service costs US$19 plus tip. 

By Bus: The most convenient service is the "New York Airport Express Service Bus". This bus departs from both airports every 20-30 minutes (7am- midnight) and stops are located at the 'Express Bus Stop' at each airport terminal. Cost is US$15. For reservations or for more info call (718) 875-8200 or visit their website at www.nyairportservice.com/. Use taxis for transport during the hours of midnight-7am. 

2). To transfer from NY Penn Station to Newark Liberty International Airport Train Station: 
Trains depart New York Penn Station every 10-15 minutes to Newark Airport. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket window for approx. $12.50 and wait until the train board displays your track. ALL trains that go to Newark Liberty International Airport Train Station are displayed as "EWR." The train ride to the airport station is about 25 minutes and you will be asked to show you ticket while on the train. 

3.) To transfer from Newark Liberty International Train Station to the Hilton Newark Airport: 
After exiting the train follow the signs for the "AIRTRAIN". Take the AIRTRAIN to station P4 and wait for the Hilton Newark Airport Complimentary Shuttle. This will bring you directly to the Hotel and a shuttle arrives/departs every 15-20 minutes. It is customary to tip the driver who helps you with your bag ($1-$2 per bag).

AIRPORT TRANSFER INFORMATION

The hotel operates a free shuttle service which runs every 20-30 minutes. After arrival and from either terminal 1, 2 or 3, the shuttle bus will arrive outside of the airport. Typically a tip of US$1-2 is expected.
