Key West is beach life at its best, and as soon as you lay eyes on the stunning crystal clear water you'll want to dive right in, so make sure you have your swimming gear at the ready! Key West is famous for epic sunsets, and the place to be a few hours before sunset is Mallory Square, where the celebrations kick off in style. Head over to Duval Street to enjoy some first class restaurants and nightlife.

The famous Everglades is packed with rare and endangered species, such as the American Crocodile, the manatee and the elusive Florida Panther, so make sure your camera is fully charged. There are plenty of ways to explore this untouched wilderness, but the most fun way of getting around is by airboat. Experience close encounters with alligators as you delve deep into the swamps on an included airboat ride. Tonight you’re in for a treat as you stay in an authentic chickee - a wooden shelter on stilts raised off the ground, a style of accommodation that’s still used today by Native Americans in the area. How cool is that?!

Orlando needs no introduction. The next couple of days are going to be packed with thrills and excitement! It’s time to embrace the beach bum in you and laze on the white sandy beaches of Destin on Florida’s Emerald Coast. If you’ve been dreaming of more beach days and sunset cruises, then you’ll fall head over heels for this place. Your next stop is the musical mecca of the Deep South - New Orleans, otherwise known as the ‘Big Easy’. Cruise down the Mississippi on a riverboat cruise to embrace the easy, laid-back way of life. An eclectic mix of European, Creole and Cajun culture can be found everywhere, from the architecture to the cuisine and the music. The music's a big focus here but you don’t just come to New Orleans for the music; the Southern food is some of the tastiest you’ll ever experience. Grab a po-boy, a bowl of gumbo or some home-cooked jambalaya and pull up a chair in the French Quarter to watch the world go by. If the food of the Deep South gets your mouth watering, why not join a cookery class at the New Orleans School of Cookery? By night, check out legendary Bourbon Street or explore the bars in Frenchmen Street for cool live music.

Cross into supersized Texas and make your way to Davy Crockett National Forest, named after the legendary pioneer. There’s a large variety of wildlife in the forest, so keep your eyes peeled for deer, turkey and the Red-cockaded Woodpecker! Davy Crockett National Forest is considered to be highlight in East Texas, so enjoy a relaxed walk through some of the 160,000 acres of dense woodland with your tour leader. You’ll overnight in eastern Texas as you edge closer to your next stop, Dallas.

Famous as the assassination place of JF Kennedy, Dallas is a dream for all the history buffs in the group. Walk the Grassy Knoll and see the site where the infamous shooting occurred. The city is super modern and a visit to the Dallas Arts District will leave you spoilt for choice with the many restaurants, pubs and boutique shops, not forgetting the awesome nightlife.  For a local experience, why not watch the Fort Worth Herd cattle drive? This twice daily occurrence will give y'all an authentic experience into the life of a real cowboy.

Visit the famous Cadillac Ranch on the official Route 66 and see the site where 10 Cadillacs are buried nose deep in the sand. Now a public art installation, make sure you grab a spray can to decorate the cars with your own unique style. In the evening head on over to the Big Texan Steak Ranch along old Route 66; it’s the home of the supersized 72oz (2 kilo) steak and if you can finish it in one hour then you can eat for free!

You're in for a great time in Taos, which has the perfect mix of activities from hiking to culture in the form of Taos Pueblo, the only living Native American community designated as both a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and a National Historic Landmark. Taos also has some world-class museums, such as the Millicent Rogers Museum, which houses over 1,000 pieces of stunning Native American jewellery. Souvenir, anyone?

It's time to get your history fix with a visit to the World Heritage Site at Mesa Verde, Spanish for ‘green table’. With nearly 5,000 archaeological sites, including 600 cliff dwellings, you’ll get an insight into how the Anasazi lived hundreds of years ago. In the winter Telluride is a skier’s paradise, but come the summer months visitors are treated to wonderful hiking trails. Oh and the best bit? The sun is said to shine for 300 days a year in Telluride – what more could you ask for? Your tour leader will take you on a hike to see Bear Creek Falls, an easy and beautiful hike that will be a highlight of your time here, and you'll also enjoy an included and guided half day biking trip in one of the most picturesque areas of Colorado. Moab is your next stop, the gateway to Arches National Park. It won't be long before you realise why this place is known as the ‘adventure playground’ of the Southwest. As you explore this red desert park you’ll be met with crazy sandstone formations such as fins, pinnacles, spires, balanced rocks and arches – they will leave you lost for words. Of the 2,000 arches around the park the most famous by far is Delicate Arch. The people of Utah are so proud of Delicate Arch they have it on their number plates and you will soon see why as you witness this stunning red wonder of nature for yourself. For the ultimate view of the snaking Colorado River, enjoy a visit out to the iconic Dead Horse Point overlooking Canyonlands National Park.

Next on the list is the capital of Utah, Salt Lake City. This mid-west American city will give you great insight into some truly unique heritage. If museums and galleries are your thing, visit the historic Temple Square. The next morning you and your group will head out to Great Salt Lake State Park where you’ll witness the strange and beautiful salty land formations – a huge salt-laden playground for you to have some fun in.

Situated in Northwest Wyoming, Grand Teton National Park is a real stunner! With around 310,000 acres of natural beauty and the stunning peaks of the 65km long Teton Range, make sure you make the most of your time here. A popular option is to take a ferry across Jenny Lake and hike up to Inspiration Point, where you’ll see awesome wildlife and hidden waterfalls. For extra thrills hit up the rapids on a white water rafting trip on the Snake River. Or perhaps horseback riding is more your style? A great way to finish your time in Jackson is with a chuckwagon dinner, experiencing delicious food with your Trek buddies.

Your next stop is the oldest and probably the most iconic of America's national parks: Yellowstone. It’s home to half of the world's thermal features, with over 10,000 within its borders. Hike to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and you'll soon see how this national park was given its name. Along the rim you can walk to Artist Point and Lower Yellowstone Falls, one of the most powerful and beautiful waterfalls in the park. Watch Old Faithful Geyser erupt and explore the geothermal pools, petrified forests and Lamar Valley, all the time making sure you keep your eyes peeled for the amazing array of wildlife that roams freely around the park from bison to bear, or even wolves if you're lucky.

Situated on the border between America and Canada, the drive approaching this stunning national park is simply breathtaking, and you'll soon be dying to get out and stretch those legs in this landscape. One of the largest national parks in North America, Glacier National Park is now home to 25 active glaciers - over recent decades, the number has shrunk so this landscape is constanly changing and under threat. It's also home to around one million acres of turquoise alpine lakes, forests and beautiful alpine meadows. Hike the 'crown jewel' of trails to Iceberg Lake and keep a look out for wildlife such as mountain goats and Grizzly Bears that live in the shadows of the magnificent craggy peaks.

The oldest national park in Canada and set in the very heart of the Canadian Rockies, this place will knock your socks off, it’s so darn beautiful. There is a ton of spectacular wildlife here and over 1,600km of walking trails and some of the most beautiful alpine lakes you will have ever laid eyes on. Visit the famous Banff Springs Hotel or take the steep hike up to Sulphur Mountain and a gondola ride down. Then it's on to the most amazing of all the lakes in the area, Lake Louise. Often referred to as the 'Gem of the Rockies', this lake lives up to its reputation with its stunning emerald colour. Walk the lakeshore trail or hike out to the Plain of Six Glaciers for some truly inspiring scenery.

Hyder is a tiny and unique Alaskan outpost, geographically isolated in Canada, and one of the only Southern Alaskan towns accessible by road. Visit Fish Creek where in the late summer you may spot Black and Grizzly Bear that return to feed on the tasty Pink Salmon. Further on up the road is the fifth largest glacier in Canada, Salmon Glacier, the ultimate place to spend some time out in the wilderness.

The wooden shopfronts lining Dawson City's downtown area give it a real frontier feel and the town looks like it has come straight out of a movie set from the 1800s. You can't visit Dawson City without an included visit to the iconic Diamond Tooth Gertie's, one of Canada's oldest and friendliest saloons. Stop by the Gold Rush town of Chicken before arriving in Tok – if you love being in the great outdoors, you’ll love it here. Situated on the Alaskan Highway in between the Tanana River and the Alaska Range, Tok is the perfect place to be at one with nature. Just north of Tok is Forty Mile County and if you’ve read the likes of Jack London, you’ll know that he found most of his inspiration from this awesome wilderness area. So get out there and get amongst it and make sure you embrace the hiking and bird watching that is right on your doorstep. One thing you won’t want to miss out on is the ‘pancake toss competition’ whereby if you get the pancake into the bucket, you’ve earned yourself a free breakfast!

There’s only one word for this national park and that’s ‘epic’! Wrangell-St Elias National Park is famous for being six times larger than Yellowstone and is jam-packed with out of this world scenery, including 150 glaciers, the tallest coastal mountain range in the world and nine of the 16 highest peaks in the USA. Vast and rugged, this park is phenomenal and any visit to Wrangell will no doubt be an exciting and rewarding one. Walk along ancient glaciers here or for the more daring, why not get your thrills from a spot of ice climbing?

Surrounded by the tallest mountain peaks in North America, Denali National Park is teeming with Grizzly Bear, caribou, Dall Sheep, marmots and wolves. You'll be able to delve into the wilderness with a two day shuttle bus pass, which offers scenic views of the park as well as offering superb opportunities to view wildlife. Denali is one of the few national parks where visitors are encouraged to explore off the beaten track and to make their own trail, so the hiking options are unlimited. As a real treat and highly recommended if your budget allows, why not opt for a scenic flight over Denali National Park with the chance to land on an ice sheet under the epic shadow of towering Mount Denali, the highest peak in North America. Activities such as river rafting, an included dog sled demonstration and walking are all available near our lovely campground.

Next up is Seward, known for its stunning mountain scenery and unbeatable views of the bay. Jump aboard an optional cruise to tour the Kenai Fjords and be awestruck by views of wildlife such as whales and sea otters. One thing that can't be caught on camera is the incredible noise coming from the glaciers as they creak and sometimes fall into the sea creating a mighty splash. If hiking is your thing, hit the Harding Icefield Trail for one of the most rewarding Alaskan walks you’ll find.

After 56 incredible days exploring North America, your trip ends in Alaska's largest city, Anchorage. Despite being a bustling metropolis you still won't be far from wildlife, with moose often spotted wandering along the main streets - pretty cool, right? Anchorage is a city that has heaps of local walking trails, shops aplenty and a great bar and restaurant scene, so we suggest staying a few extra days after the tour to explore.

If you are flying into Miami, take a Super Shuttle service for approximately US$22 per person which operates 24 hours a day. You can pre-book your transfer on the Super Shuttle website by searching for the "Courtyard Miami Beach South Beach" as your drop off point. If you wish to take a taxi, you can find one outside the terminal and should cost approximately US$35 and take 35 minutes depending on traffic.

AIRPORT TRANSFER INFORMATION

The hotel offers a free 24 hour shuttle service. Contact the hotel upon arrival using the hotel shuttle phones in the baggage claim area, or call the hotel directly on 907-276-0110. A tip of US$2 per person is recommended. If you prefer to take a taxicab, they leave from the designated taxi area near baggage claim. The fare should be approximately US$15-17 including tip.

There are loads of exciting optional activities available for you to choose from during your trip giving you the flexibility to do the things you want to and leave out the things you don't. A list of optional activities and approximate costs are shown at the end of each day by day itinerary descriptions above.

Your tour leader will arrange your chosen activities during the tour so no need to pre-book. You'll also pay for these locally so ensure you budget for the bucket list items!

As local weather conditions and seasonality can change not all optional activities may be available on your trip and prices can be subject to change.

ALASKA BEAR VIEWING EXTENTION

View Alaska black and brown bears in their natural habitat on a guided bear watching trip at Redoubt Bay Lodge, a small rustic lodge situated in a 171,000‐acre critical habitat area.

Redoubt Bay Lodge is a 50‐minute float plane flight southwest of Anchorage near the dramatic entrance of Lake Clark National Park and Preserve and is home to one of the most concentrated and view-able bear populations in the state of Alaska. After landing our float plane in front of the lodge, your bear watching adventure begins. You will take a covered pontoon boat with our experienced naturalist guides through the chain of Big River Lakes that are host to sockeye and Coho salmon runs and a popular feeding site for resident bear (and fishermen as well!)

This bear viewing experience is an easy half day trip from Anchorage with morning or afternoon departures of approximately 6.5 hours.

  • Boats: Pontoons with half of the boat covered. Each boat carries 6-10 people
  • What to bring: Be prepared to spend the day outside, we would recommend lots of layers. You should have good walking shoes or light hiking boots, sunglasses, film/batteries, long pants, T-shirt, sweatshirt, light coat, rain gear, and mosquito repellent.
