Are you ready for the 'Big Easy'? Reach New Orleans and head to Cafe du Monde, famous for its sweet fried beignets, or people watch in the French Quarter. Chug along the Mississippi River on an optional steamboat cruise, or don your explorer's cap as you go on a search for gators on an air-boat tour through the mysterious swamps of Louisana. Why not see New Orleans in a different way by opting for a 'Voodoo and Graveyard' tour with an included visit to Marie Laveau's House of Voodoo where you can pick up some unusual souvenirs? Jazz music can be heard on every corner; hear the real deal at Preservation Hall, echoing with smooth trumpet and sexy sax.

Next you're off to Memphis located by the Mississippi River which has a long and colourful past. The highlight of your stop in Memphis is an included visit to 'Graceland', the home of Elvis Presley and the second-most visited private home in the USA after the White House! This city has a rich musical legacy, so you'll also see where the likes of BB King and Johnny Cash recorded some of their most famous hits on an included tour of iconic Sun Studio. In the evening dance the night away in the bars and blues clubs of Beale Street. This city isn't all about the music though; learn more about the civil rights movement at the museum in the former Lorraine Motel, where Martin Luther King was assassinated.

Say hello to the 'Home of Country Music', a place that everyone falls in love with - you don't even need to be a fan of country music! Head out to the Wild Horse Saloon for live music and line dancing, or get your history fix at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, home to the largest collection of country music in the world. Music put Nashville on the tourist map, but that's not all that is great about this southern city, it's also home to delicious food with local specialities including hot chicken and BBQ ribs.

From the moment you reach the Appalachian Mountains you'll be amazed at just how beautiful and huge this range is. This supersized mountain chain is around 2,400km (1,500 miles) long and stretches all the way from Canada to Alabama. Enjoy some epic road trip scenery as you drive along and on your short walk, and keep an eye out for wildlife including the American Black Bear.

Washington DC is jam-packed with American culture and offers a great mix of political and social history. Explore the best of America's capital - from the Smithsonian National Museums to the stunning monuments. A great way to explore this city is by renting a bike and riding around at your own pace. The city is awash with greenery so once you're done with sightseeing, go people watching in the parks. Later, switch from culture to clubbing in the oh-so-cool lounges around Dupont Circle and Georgetown. Washington is a great build up for the finale of your American journey, but you're not there yet!

Head back to the Garden State via Pennsylvania. Visit Philadelphia where there's time to climb the famous 'Rocky' steps, see the iconic symbol of American independence, the Liberty Bell, and then grab yourself a cheeky Philly cheesesteak lunch, yum! From here it's onto the New York area where you might want to spend an extra couple of days to explore the city. Discover the wonderful sights and sounds of the Big Apple on your own and splurge along Fifth Avenue, hit the top of the Empire State Building, or soak up the trendy, laid-back vibe of Greenwich Village before you head home.

This tour ends at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.

AIRPORT TRANSFER INFORMATION

If you are flying into Miami, take a Super Shuttle service for approximately US$22 per person which operates 24 hours a day. You can pre-book your transfer on the Super Shuttle website by searching for the "Courtyard Miami Beach South Beach" as your drop off point. If you wish to take a taxi, you can find one outside the terminal and should cost approximately US$35 and take 35 minutes depending on traffic.

AIRPORT TRANSFER INFORMATION - NEWARK AIRPORT

Transportation from Newark International Airport is the cheapest and most convenient. From Baggage Claim at the airport, take the AIRTRAIN to station P4 and wait for the Hilton Newark Airport Complimentary Shuttle. This will bring you directly to the Hotel and a shuttle arrives/departs every 15-20 minutes. The journey will take approximately 10mins, depending on traffic. It is customary to tip the driver who helps you with your bag ($1-$2 per bag).

 

AIRPORT TRANSFER INFORMATION - JFK & LA GUARDIA AIRPORTS

From both JFK and La Guardia airports you must first transfer to New York Penn Station located at 31st and 7th Streets in Midtown Manhattan and then take another transfer to Newark International Airport. 

1). To transfer from the airport to New York Penn Station: 
By Shuttle: You can pre-book your transfer on the Super Shuttle website by searching for "Penn Station" landmark when prompted. A shared transfer service costs US$19 plus tip. 

By Bus: The most convenient service is the "New York Airport Express Service Bus". This bus departs from both airports every 20-30 minutes (7am- midnight) and stops are located at the 'Express Bus Stop' at each airport terminal. Cost is US$15. For reservations or for more info call (718) 875-8200 or visit their website at www.nyairportservice.com/. Use taxis for transport during the hours of midnight-7am. 

2). To transfer from NY Penn Station to Newark Liberty International Airport Train Station: 
Trains depart New York Penn Station every 10-15 minutes to Newark Airport. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket window for approx. $12.50 and wait until the train board displays your track. ALL trains that go to Newark Liberty International Airport Train Station are displayed as "EWR." The train ride to the airport station is about 25 minutes and you will be asked to show you ticket while on the train. 

3.) To transfer from Newark Liberty International Train Station to the Hilton Newark Airport: 
After exiting the train follow the signs for the "AIRTRAIN". Take the AIRTRAIN to station P4 and wait for the Hilton Newark Airport Complimentary Shuttle. This will bring you directly to the Hotel and a shuttle arrives/departs every 15-20 minutes. It is customary to tip the driver who helps you with your bag ($1-$2 per bag).
