Today is an arrival day and at 18:00 hrs you'll meet your tour leader and the Trekkers who'll be your travel companions for the next 14 days. Before all the formalities and your first dinner as a group, make sure you go and explore the vibrant city streets of one of the world's most iconic cities. Grab a coffee over on the cool side of the bridge, Brooklyn; or simply marvel at all the lights and billboards in Times Square. With some of the most densely packed shopping, entertainment and nightlife districts in the USA, it's the city that just keeps on giving. There's a reason New York City is loved the world over and you're about to find out, so don't waste a second.
In between the bright lights of NYC to the north and the grandeur of the capital to the south is Philadelphia; but don't underestimate this often overlooked city, it definitely punches above its weight. Speaking of which, you may recognise Philadelphia from one of the most iconic movie moments in the award-winning movie Rocky. Yes, you will have the opportunity to run up the steps and take a picture at the top; it's pretty much a rite of passage for first-timers in Philly. See the Liberty Bell and pay a visit to the Reading Terminal Market where you'll find heaps of stalls serving up some of the best grub in town. Might we suggest tucking into a Philly cheesesteak for the ultimate foodie experience, they are mouth-wateringly good! Your next East Coast pit stop is in America's capital, Washington DC. There's no better way to discover a city than with the help of a local expert, so we recommend taking an Urban Adventures tour of the city monuments so you can get your head around the city's history. See the epic buildings of the Smithsonian Museums and the one and only White House. Then in the evening Georgetown is calling, so head there for a couple of drinks after a day of history and culture!
Heading northwest into Ohio, you and your Trek gang roll into Cleveland. Not just a character in Family Guy, but one more cool city just waiting for you to explore! In Cleveland grit meets sophistication and here you'll find some top restaurants and great nightlife. The highlight of your time here will be an included visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where you can learn about the evolution of a musical phenomenon, oh and did we mention that you'll find Michael Jackson's sparkly glove inside? Awesome!
You're in the 'Windy City', the home of the Magnificent Mile, steely skyscrapers and North America's tallest building, the Willis Tower. The moment you arrive you'll be itching to explore and the best way to do it is on two wheels! We've included a 'Bobby's Bike Hike' tour so you can make sure you don't waste any time in seeing all the sights of this awesome city. Build up an appetite as Chicago's also the home of delicious deep-dish pizza, and we couldn't let you leave Chicago without a meal on us. You'll also witness one of North America's five Great Lakes, Lake Michigan. Spend some time down by the lake on one of the many city beaches, the most popular being North Avenue Beach, where you can enjoy views of the cityscape whilst working on your tan.
Next up is the mighty Niagara Falls, a real sight to behold. Never before will you have witnessed so much water pounding down! Once in Canada it's time to get wet and wild on an included cruise that will take you closer to the falls. You'll cruise on past the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls and into the very heart of the Horseshoe Falls, for a truly mind-blowing experience.
Get ready, you're in for treat as you make your way to Toronto. This is your first Canadian city and boy does it deliver! There are over 140 languages spoken here, making Toronto one of the most multicultural cities in the world. There's a reason people from all over the world settle here and that's because it's awesome! First things first, your tour leader will provide you with a short city tour and then it's your turn to explore. With so many cultures here, that can mean only one thing: the food is going to be incredible! Head to Little Italy, Little India or Chinatown and stuff your face with all kinds of tasty treats. Head to Kensington Market for some vintage shopping or for the designer names, Toronto Eaton Centre is the place to be. The locals love their city and we're pretty sure you will too!
Creativity and culture thrive in this vibrant Canadian city, and you've got two days to get to the heart of what makes this place tick. Blessed with one of the most exciting food scenes in North America, we would definitely urge you try poutine, a firm favourite with just about everyone! A local dish of cheesy French fries, topped with thick gravy. our mouths are watering just thinking about it! From the old to the new, Montreal's architecture is phenomenal so wander around taking it all in. For a different perspective of the city, albeit a slightly blurrier one, why not take on the Lachine Rapids by jet boat for some serious watery fun?!
You're in for one more slice of American history, Boston style. You'll start with a tour leader led walk along the Freedom Trail, which is a great way to see the entire city, both old and new. As you visit 16 historical sites you'll discover the history associated with Boston and the American War of Independence. Fear not, Boston is not all about the past. Witness the brains of America hard at work with a visit to the famous Harvard University or grab your Trek mates and head to a baseball game to see the famous Red Sox in action. This city is famous for its Atlantic seafood, so treat yourself to a bowl of creamy clam chowder, you deserve it!
You're back in the 'Big Apple', the city that never sleeps! If you ask us, there's no finer way to end your two week Eastern road trip. If you don't want your North American adventure to come to an end, why not stay a few extra nights and see more of the New York's amazing sights, from Central Park to Fifth Avenue!
This tour ends at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post-tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.
