  • Day 2-3: Yosemite National Park

Heading east through California's gold country you follow the scenic drive and enter everyone's favourite national park, Yosemite. Here you can either hike or bike through the extraordinary landscape of glacier-carved granite monoliths and spectacular waterfalls. Either way, this park rocks! Once inside Yosemite, keep your eyes peeled for Black Bears and coyote that roam freely. When the sun goes down, their howling often echoes amidst pines and sequoias - now that's not something you hear every day! A couple of nights under canvas in Yosemite definitely takes the spirit of the great outdoors up a notch or two.

Take in the stunning scenery as you drive up the Californian Coast to Redwood National Park. Get out and stretch those legs with a hike through Tall Trees Grove and keep an eye out for elk and bears who can be found hiding under the canopy of the Redwoods. These trees are the tallest on earth, so be prepared to spend a lot of time looking up. As you explore more of the park you might start to recognise the canyons covered in fern and moss from Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World. After an amazing day exploring Redwood National Park watch the sun set over the Pacific Ocean on what's virtually your own private beach. Sounds like the perfect day, right?
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 8: Florence, Oregon Coast

The Florence Oregon Coast is the perfect place for relaxation and fun, oh and the ocean views aren't too bad either. Stroll around the Old Town with its charming shops and cafes. • Day 12-13: British Columbia & Lake Louise

Heading through British Columbia you'll no doubt be impressed from the word go! In every direction you'll see incredible scenery from mirrored lakes, snowy peaks and huge forests of conifer. With the nickname the `Gem of the Rockies', Lake Louise is the real show stopper around these parts. The imposing chateau looks on as mountains cluster round the turquoise surface. We recommend you hike out to the Plain-of-Six-Glaciers which will reward you with some truly stunning views! Don't just stop there, grab a paddle and inspect the scene on an optional canoe trip.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 14-15: Banff National Park

  • Day 16-18: Glacier National Park & Montana

With bear sightings possible and other awesome wildlife in abundance, it won't just be the snow-capped mountains that leave you awe-struck. The best way to see Glacier National Park is to don your hiking boots and go for a walk. Alpine lakes, sheer peaks and of course the glaciers, all 26 of them, make this a park that'll leave you speechless. Montana is often referred to as 'Big Sky Country' because of its numerous stars, but it is also a hiker's paradise. This area sure adds a healthy dose of the wow factor to your already awesome road trip!
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 19-20: Yellowstone National Park

Heading out of Montana straight into Wyoming the scenery just keeps on getting better as you reach Yellowstone National Park. View explosive geysers including `Old Faithful' and colourful waterfalls while exploring the world's oldest and most famous national park. If bison, elk and bear are on your list of wildlife you must see on your trip, you're exactly where you need to be, so have your camera at the ready! If you're really lucky you may even spot a wolf as they have recently been re-introduced to the park. There's no doubt about it, the next couple of days in Yellowstone National Park will be awesome!
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 21: Cody

Just a short drive from Yellowstone you arrive in the heart of Old West Country, Cody! Embrace the cowboy roots, shake a leg and try some two-step as the buckin' bronco rears its massive head! This is the heart of cowboy country and nothing says Wyoming more than a good dose of rodeo and a Stetson so we've included a visit to Cody summer rodeo for you. (01 June - 31 August departures only)
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 22: Mount Rushmore

We bet you never thought you'd see the faces of some of America's most prolific presidents peering out from the granite rock face? Well that's exactly what you can expect to see at Mount Rushmore. The sculpture features presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln and it is pretty darn huge with 60 foot high faces, 500 feet up. Close by, another rock-carved epic is shaping up, impressive Crazy Horse Memorial. Dedicated to the famed Lakota Indian war leader, this is a sight not to be missed.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 23: Badlands National Park

If navigating your way around shopping malls is your forte, you'll feel right at home at your next stop, Wall Drug. The renowned drug store in the little frontier town of Wall is so big you'll need a map to get around! This is also your last stop before heading into the Badlands National Park. This place is out of this world, no not literally, but we imagine this is what it would be like making a moon landing. The bizarre lunar landscape of low slung buttes, chiselled spires and saw tooth ridges are what geology dreams are made of. The rugged beauty draws in people from all over the world and you may even see bison, Bighorn Sheep and prairie dogs.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 24: South Dakota & Minnesota

Say hello to the Jolly Green Giant Statue in Blue Earth. Head out across the great prairies of America's original western frontier. Resident coyotes may utter the occasional howl as you settle down for some shut-eye under canvas. You're definitely living the American dream here!
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 25-26: Chicago

The `Windy City' is home to some of the greatest blues music in America. Why not soar up Willis Tower for dizzying views over the city? Trawl the upmarket malls of Magnificent Mile before taking to pedal power on the optional famous `Bobby's Bike Hike' tour. For more awesome views of the city skyline head down to Lake Michigan and take in the laid back city vibes before grabbing yourself a slice of Chicago's deep-dish pizza, you deserve it!
    Accommodation: Hostel included

  • Day 27: Cedar Point, Ohio & Lake Erie

We make a brief stop in Gary, Indiana for a photo of the house where Michael Jackson grew up, followed by a visit to an Amish community in Shipshewana. You'll find no Wi-Fi or McDonalds here as the Amish people maintain a more traditional way of life. Then you're Ohio bound, where you can ask a `Buckeye' to tell you all about their state nut or how cool they think Cedar Point Amusement Park's roller coasters are! It's probably better to find out for yourself though, by riding the Millennium Force - `the greatest roller coaster in the world'! That's enough thrills and excitement for one day, so settle down for the night next to the beautiful Lake Erie.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 28: Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is three waterfalls all rolled into one, so you can only imagine how epic it'll be to witness this natural wonder with your own two eyes. Get as close as you dare to the booming cascades of Niagara Falls on an included `Maid of the Mist' cruise, just be prepared to get wet. Tonight head back to the falls for an illuminated view under a blanket of stars.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 29: New York Area

Leaving the roar of the falls behind you travel through New York's Finger Lakes region and the Pocono Mountains en route to the New York area. This tour is not scheduled to spend any time in New York City so make sure you book a few extra nights and explore the sights and sounds of the Big Apple on your own. Splash your cash along Fifth Ave, hit the top of the Empire State Building, take a selfie with Lady Liberty herself or soak up the trendy, laidback vibe of Greenwich Village before heading home. Boy, what an adventure!

This tour ends at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post-tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.
