This tour also departs from New York area >

  • Day 1-2: Los Angeles & San Diego

Take a tour of 'Tinseltown' starting with a drive through Hollywood to the Walk of Fame and a view of the iconic Hollywood sign. Head south to San Diego for some seriously laid-back vibes and powder white sand beaches. There's loads to keep you busy in this awesome West Coast city; laze in grassy Balboa Park and explore famous San Diego Zoo, home to over 3,000 incredible animals, or show off your skills by renting some rollerblades or a surfboard. You're in paradise so don your shades and soak up some rays. Later, explore the Gaslamp Quarter and experience the heart of San Diego's nightlife.
    Accommodation: Hostel nights included

  • Day 3-4: Las Vegas

It's on to a little place we like to call 'Sin City'. With so much to see and do why not start with an included cruise down the Strip in a super-stretch limo and afterwards indulge in an all-you-can eat buffet, take in a show or just watch the amazing crowds and neon signs as the glitzy hotels try to outdo each other with spectacular attractions. If you want to get extreme, how about a trip to the top of the Stratosphere Hotel for some thrills on the vertigo inducing roller coasters perched at the top! And if that's not enough, take a helicopter flight back down the Strip. Remember, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas".
    Accommodation: Hotel nights included

  • Day 5-6: Grand Canyon National Park

En route to the Grand Canyon you'll drive along a section of the original Route 66, stopping at the town of Seligman; a town frozen in time where you'll find tons of old Americana. Grab a root beer, have a look around and pick up some souvenirs for the folks back home. Now it's time for the ultimate show stopper, the mighty Grand Canyon! Once you've cast your eyes upon the deep canyon landscape you'll understand why this great natural wonder is loved by locals and tourists alike. Pack your boots, camera and water before venturing into the canyon itself along the Bright Angel Trail to Plateau Point. Alternatively, opt for a "bird's eye" view on a scenic helicopter flight. Watching the sun rise or set over the canyon with the colours changing is simply breath-taking and not to be missed, so enjoy every minute.
    Accommodation: Hotel nights included

  • Day 7: Monument Valley

On the road again and off to one of North America's most iconic landscapes, used as the set for countless Western movies, including the recent remake of The Lone Ranger. Immerse yourself in the native culture on an optional guided jeep tour of the Navajo Reservation and back roads. Marvel at the sight of towering buttes and mesas which dominate the awe-inspiring landscape during the day. At night it gets even more incredible, as the sun goes down swap camp fire stories under a starry sky.
    Accommodation: Motel night included

  • Day 8: Santa Fe

With 325 days of sunshine per year and bright blue skies, plus some of the best Mexican food in the USA, Santa Fe won't disappoint. For all the art lovers out there Santa Fe is the one for you. Visit Canyon Road, home to art galleries, cultural treasures such as hand-woven Navajo rugs, historic adobe buildings and a vibrant restaurant scene. Santa Fe will definitely win you over with its laid back charm, and with tons of festivals and events throughout the year, you'll have an absolute blast.
    Accommodation: Motel night included

  • Day 9-10: Carlsbad Caverns National Park & San Angelo, Texas

Head on to New Mexico and Carlsbad Caverns National Park to explore one of the largest cave systems in the world. Gnarled limestone stalactites hang from the ceiling like icicles and stalagmites, creating a unique and interesting experience for all who walk through this incredible place. Next, prepare for a big welcome as you enter the Lone Star State and overnight in San Angelo. Why not opt for a visit to Fort Concho and then take a step back in time with a trip to Miss Hattie's Bordello Museum, a former brothel.
    Accommodation: Motel night included

  • Day 11-12: Austin, Texas & Louisiana

Austin has exploded as the `Live music capital of the world' and is the home of great BBQ Tex-Mex food. The city is packed with "Texas sized" excitement and is sure to impress with a nightlife which rivals some of the biggest cities in the world. We then say goodbye to Texas and head into bayou country, Louisiana.
Accommodation: Hostel & guesthouse nights included (mixed dorm in Austin)

  • Day 13-14: New Orleans

Welcome to the country's Deep South, where life moves at a much slower pace, so embrace it. Why not spice up your trip with lip-smacking Cajun and Creole fare, ride a steamboat on the Mississippi River or relax to the sounds of a jazz or Dixieland band in the French Quarter. New Orleans has more than just incredible tasting food, drink and music to offer. You can take a swamp tour into the alligator habitat of southern Louisiana and see all sorts of wildlife in the mysterious wetlands of Cajun country.
    Accommodation: Hotel nights included

  • Day 15-16: Memphis

Memphis is the birthplace of Rock'n'Roll, so you won't want to miss out on an included visit to Sun Studio, where the likes of Johnny Cash and the late BB King recorded their most famous records. Head on down to iconic Beale Street where music is literally playing around every corner. There is more to Memphis than just music, pay a visit to the National Civil Rights Museum located in the former Lorraine Hotel and see the place where Martin Luther King was assassinated. Of course, you can't go home without a trip to the former home of `The King' Elvis Presley in Graceland.
    Accommodation: Hotel nights included

  • Day 17-18: Nashville & Virginia

Cowboy boots and sequinned denim anyone? You're in Nashville, the shining star of the country music scene. Hit 'The District' - the nightlife hub of Nashville, laze in the city's parks, trawl the malls or learn to line dance, the opportunities are endless here. Next, touch down in Virginia and the 'spine of America', the Appalachian Mountain Range.
Accommodation: Hostel & motel nights included

  • Day 19-20: Washington DC

Washington DC is next on the agenda and you'll really enjoy the grandeur of the nation's capital. If museums are you thing, you might want to check out the impressive Smithsonian Museums. Home to 19 different museums, you're bound to learn a thing or two here. From the White House to the city's trendy bars, the capital has something for everyone. Why not head out to take advantage of the great nightlife in Georgetown?
    Accommodation: Hostel nights included

  • Day 21: Philadelphia & New York Area

Leaving the capital behind, drive towards Philadelphia in Pennsylvania where you can visit the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and climb the famous steps from the Rocky movies. But, before you leave make sure you treat yourself to a tasty Philly cheese steak lunch - delicious! Head over to the New York area where the tour will end. If you're not ready to say goodbye to America just yet and want to explore New York City, why not spend a couple more days after the tour to explore the sights and sounds of the Big Apple on your own or with your new Trek buddies? Splurge along Fifth Ave, hit the top of the Empire State Building, or soak up the trendy, laid back vibe of Greenwich Village before sadly heading home.

This tour ends at our gateway hotel at approximately 17:00 hrs. We recommend booking post-tour accommodation if time allows. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.
