  • Day 1: Los Angeles & Santa Barbara

You begin your three week adventure in the gorgeous Californian sunshine and with an included tour of Hollywood, where you can catch a glimpse of the iconic Hollywood sign and find your favourite film star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ocean awaits your arrival as you head towards to the awesome Pacific Coast with a stop in Santa Barbara to check out the pier and beach. You continue on and spend your first night under the Californian stars, what a way to get to your fellow travellers!
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 2-3: San Francisco

As soon as you step foot onto the streets of San Francisco, you'll feel right at home. Soak up the hippy vibes in Haight-Ashbury and while you're there why not take a stroll around Golden Gate Park for some stunning views of the bay. For the ultimate view of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge set sail on an optional sunset sail cruise for views of the city and Alcatraz. To show you the sights that most travellers don't have the time to see, we have included a guided tour of San Francisco's famous Chinatown and stunning North Beach to help you scratch beneath the surface of the 'City by the Bay'.
    Accommodation: Hostel nights included

If you are interested in visiting Alcatraz we recommend you book your tickets well in advance direct with Alcatraz Cruises. For this tour you should book your ticket for day 3 (1pm onwards). See Tour Extras tab for more information.

  • Day 4-5: Yosemite National Park

Heading through Central California take a scenic drive into the Yosemite National Park. Here you'll get the opportunity to hike or bike through the extraordinary landscape of glacier-carved granite monoliths and spectacular waterfalls. Once inside Yosemite, keep your eyes peeled and your cameras at the ready for some incredible wildlife sightings. Bears often frequent the area and when the sun goes down listen out for coyotes howling amidst the pines and sequoias. This is a paradise for any nature lover and whatever activities you get up to in Yosemite, you're sure to have a blast.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 6-7: Lake Tahoe, Nevada

After all the hiking and biking around Yosemite, you deserve a little break and some chill time. So how about a quick dip in the stunning crystal clear waters of Lake Tahoe? The scenery here is mind-blowing, so make the most of your time and soak in those incredible views with an optional sunset sailboat cruise for the perfect end to an awesome day in northern USA!
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 8-9: Grand Teton National Park & Jackson

Next up are the wonderful views and hikes that await in the majestic Grand Teton National Park. With few foothills to speak of, the jagged peaks here rise like teeth from lush, flat meadows against the bright blue Wyoming sky. We recommend taking the ferry across Jenny Lake with a hike up to Inspiration Point for sensational views of the valley, lake and forest below. Next you visit the truly western town of Jackson. Rafting the raging Snake River rapids, one of America's last great untamed rivers, should definitely get that adrenaline pumping! If you prefer to stay on dry land, how about a shot of 'Red-Eye' whiskey at the Silver Dollar Saloon?
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 10-11: Yellowstone National Park

The scenery just keeps on getting better as you reach Yellowstone National Park, the oldest and most famous national park in the USA. View explosive geysers including 'Old Faithful' and colourful waterfalls whilst keeping an eye out for unique wildlife. Don't leave your tent without your camera in hand and get ready to spot bison, elk and bears. If you're really lucky you may spot a wolf as they have recently been re-introduced to the park. There's no doubt about it the next couple of days in Yellowstone National Park will be awesome!
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 12: Cody

Wild Wyoming is up next and you'll head to Cody in the heart of cowboy country. Embrace the cowboy roots, shake a leg and try some two-step as the buckin' bronco rears its massive head! Nothing says Wyoming more than a good dose of rodeo and a Stetson which is why we include the Cody Rodeo night out (1st June - 31st August only). Normal life will seem a little dull once you've seen how the cowboys live!
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 13: Mount Rushmore

It's not every day you get to see the faces of America's presidents peering out from the granite face of Mount Rushmore. The sculpture features presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln and it's pretty darn huge with 60 foot high faces, 500 feet up. Close by, another rock-carved epic is shaping up: the Crazy Horse monument, a memory to the famed Lakota Indian war leader, very impressive and a sight not to be missed. This is a road trip pit stop like no other!
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 14: Badlands National Park

All signs lead to Wall Drug - the renowned drug store in the little frontier town of Wall. It's so big you'll need to get your hands on a map to find your way around! This is your last stop before heading into the Badlands, but don't worry it's not as `bad' as it sounds. Touching down here feels more like a moon landing due to the bizarre lunar landscape of low slung buttes, chiselled spires and saw tooth ridges. The rugged beauty draws in people from all over the world and you may even see bison, bighorn sheep and prairie dogs.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 15: South Dakota & Minnesota

Head out across the great prairies of America's mid-west and original western frontier. Resident coyotes may utter the occasional howl as you settle back for some shut-eye under canvas.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 16-17: Chicago

Chicago is a city that should not be overlooked, it's awesome! Home to North America's tallest building, the Willis Tower, this iconic building helps make up an incredible skyline that towers over the sandy shoreline of Lake Michigan. Hit all the highlights on our included Bobby's Bike Hike tour of Chicago, including views of the Willis Tower and Navy Pier. You can't make a stop in Chicago without treating yourself to a delicious slice of Chicago's famous deep dish pizza, it definitely tastes as good as it looks. Listen out for the city's unofficial anthem "Sweet Home Chicago", ringing out from the hip blues joints on soulful Halsted Street.
    Accommodation: Hostel nights included

  • Day 18: Cedar Point, Ohio

Travelling further on up the road you'll cross over into the state of Ohio, ask a `Buckeye' to tell you all about their beloved state nut. On the shore of Lake Erie you'll head over to Cedar Point, where you'll find 'The Best Amusement Park in the World' and you'll soon see why as the parks roller coasters dominate the skyline as far as the eye can see. After a day full of excitement and thrills, you'll be pleased to rest your weary head for a night next to the beautiful Lake Erie. Camping doesn't get much more fun than this!
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 19: Niagara Falls

Cruise along the shoreline of Lake Erie to one of America's greatest natural attractions, Niagara Falls. Opt to experience the full force of the falls as you don your blue poncho and hop aboard the Maid of the Mist cruise. Just prepare to get a little wet as you get up close and personal to a serious amount of water. For the ultimate show head to the falls at night and see them lit up in all their glory, it's a pretty spectacular sight!
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 20: Cayuga Finger Lake

From the majestic Niagara Falls to the beautiful and famous Cayuga Finger Lake. This is your penultimate day, so make the most of your time in the north and take a dip in the lakes cool waters. Nothing can beat tasting some of the region's best wines in one heck of a setting, so hit the delicious wine trails with your Trek buddies!
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 21: New York Area

Finally your Northern USA road trip must come to an end as you finally arrive in the New York area after 21 days of action packed fun. You're in the 'city that never sleeps' so what are you waiting for, go and explore! If time is no issue, make sure you book yourself a couple of extra nights in NYC. Splurge along Fifth Ave, hit the top of the Empire State Building for the ultimate selfie with this awesome city or soak up the trendy, laidback vibe of Greenwich Village before sadly heading home. Add an Urban Adventure and have the ease of being guided to all the cities hotspots by a local New Yorker.

This tour ends at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post-tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00.
