Day: 1-2 Seattle & Mount Rainier National Park
Seattle melts from sight and summits loom large. Mount Rainier National Park trumps the lot in Washington, and that really is saying something. Many hikes will be on offer considering there are over 300 miles available on the parks' network of trails, everything from easy walks through the forests to heart pounding climbs up to the mountain's glaciers. Of course just relaxing at the scenic campground or visiting the information centres is also an option.

Day: 3-4 Montana

Day: 5-6 Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone knows the knack of wowing visitors. Geysers spurt up, mud pots bubble away and steam vents hiss to a

Day: 7 Grand Teton National Park
Say 'howdy' to Yellowstone's next-door neighbour. The 40-mile mountain spine should have the adventurer in you crunching along rock-strewn trails in double-quick time, keeping half an eye out for eagles, elk and bears, of course.

Day: 8 Jackson
