  • Day 6: Minnesota

Minnesota, Wisconsin is known for cheese and microbreweries, so you can rest assured you and your fellow Trekkers won't get hungry or thirsty here! One of the greatest things about an all-American road trip are the quirky roadside attractions you come across, so say a big ole' howdy to the Jolly Green Giant Statue in Blue Earth. Head out across the great prairies of America's original western frontier, where resident coyotes may utter the occasional howl as you settle down for some shut-eye under canvas.
    Accommodation: Cabin included

  • Day 7: Badlands

All signs lead to Wall Drug - the renowned drug store in the little frontier town of Wall. It's so big you need a map to get around and it's also your last stop before heading into the Badlands. Touching down here feels more like a moon landing due to the bizarre lunar landscape of low slung buttes, chiseled spires and saw tooth ridges. The rugged beauty draws people in from all over the world and you may even see bison, Bighorn Sheep and prairie dogs.
    Accommodation: Cabin included

  • Day 8: Mount Rushmore

It's not every day you get to see the faces of America's presidents peering out from the granite face of Mount Rushmore, so get your camera at the ready. The sculpture features presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln and it's pretty darn huge with 60 foot high faces, 500 feet up. Close by, another rock-carved epic is shaping up, the Crazy Horse Memorial. A memory to the famed Lakota Indian war leader, this impressive sight is not to be missed.
    Accommodation: Cabin included

  • Day 9: Cody

Wild Wyoming is up next and you'll head to Cody in the heart of cowboy country. Embrace the cowboy roots, shake a leg and try some two-step as the buckin' bronco rears its massive head! Accommodation: Cabin included

  • Day 10-11: Yellowstone National Park

One of the highlights on any trip through Northern USA is definitely exploring the unique landscape of the world's first national park, Yellowstone! This truly is wilderness at its very best, with spouting geysers (including famous Old Faithful), waterfalls and simmering mud pools. Wildlife roams freely around the park, so make sure you keep an eye out for that once in a lifetime wildlife spotting. Black Bear, elk, bison, moose and even the elusive wolf can all be seen on a visit to Yellowstone National Park. Forget about traffic jams here, it's all about bison jams! Don't go anywhere without your trusty camera, this park is full of surprises.
    Accommodation: Cabin included

  • Day 12-13: Jackson & Grand Teton National Park

Feel the old frontier spirit alive and kicking in the truly Western town of Jackson, the perfect base for exploring the Grand Teton National Park with its spiky peaks and plentiful wildlife. Why not raft the Snake River rapids, one of America's last great untamed rivers on an optional white-water rafting trip, and then herd your posse into the nearest watering hole. Million Dollar Cowboy Bar is a fine tip, with saddles for stools and trophy cow horns above the counter.
Accommodation: Hostel nights included (multi share)

  • Day 14-15: Idaho/Nevada & Lake Tahoe

Pass more widescreen scenery as you edge your way westward across the Northern Great Basin. California is calling and Lake Tahoe provides the perfect setting for some watery thrills. Tonight why not play the house in one of the flash resort hotels or hit a bar with your fellow trekkers? This road trip just keeps getting better and better!
    Accommodation: Hotel/motel nights included

  • Day 16-17: Yosemite National Park

Following the Sierra Nevada Mountains, you take a scenic drive into the Yosemite National Park region with the chance to explore this extraordinary landscape. Both easy and challenging hikes bring you face to face with stunning glacier-carved granite monoliths, deep valleys, Giant Sequoia trees and spectacular waterfalls. Once deep inside Yosemite, keep your eyes peeled for wildlife including Black Bear and coyotes. For a different way to see the park, why not enjoy a float down the Merced River in a rubber ring (seasonal)?
    Accommodation: Hostel nights included

  • Day 18-19: San Francisco

No trip to San Francisco is complete without a visit to Haight-Ashbury, home of hippy vibes, quirky shops and cafe culture. The Golden Gate Bridge is awaiting your arrival so enjoy a walk across or, better yet, jump on a bike and see the sights on two wheels! Wine and dine at the waterfront which offers super-fresh seafood dishes and don't forget to pay the resident sea-lions of Pier 39 a visit. We've included a trip to the incredible offshore prison of Alcatraz (value $30), where you can go on a fab audio tour and learn all about the infamous inmates and the failed escape attempts, a 'must do'. You'll most definitely leave your heart in San Francisco, it's awesome!
    Accommodation: Hostel nights included

A drive along the California Coast is what road trip dreams are made of. You won't want to take your eyes off the road as more incredible views await around every twist and turn. This is by far one of the best stretches of road on the West Coast, so enjoy every minute!
    Accommodation: Hotel/motel night included

  • Day 21-22: Santa Barbara & Los Angeles

Enjoy a few hours of beach life in Santa Barbara, a beautiful town surrounded by mountains, rolling valleys and miles of gorgeous beach, before rolling into LA for a free day. Accommodation: Hotel/motel night included

  • Day 23-24: San Diego

Take a tour of 'Tinseltown' starting with a drive through Hollywood to the Walk of Fame and a view of the iconic Hollywood sign. Head south to San Diego for some seriously laid back vibes and powder white sand beaches. There's loads to keep you busy in this awesome West Coast city; laze in grassy Balboa Park and explore famous San Diego Zoo, home to over 3,000 incredible animals, or show off your skills by renting some rollerblades or a surfboard. You're in paradise so don your shades and soak up some rays. Later, explore the Gaslamp Quarter and experience the heart of San Diego's nightlife.
    Accommodation: Hostel nights included

  • Day 25-26: Las Vegas

It's on to a little place we like to call 'Sin City'. With so much to see and do why not start with an included cruise down the Strip in a super-stretch limo and afterwards indulge in an all-you-can eat buffet, take in a show or just watch the amazing crowds and neon signs as the glitzy hotels try to outdo each other with spectacular attractions. If you want to get extreme, how about a trip to the top of the Stratosphere Hotel for some thrills on the vertigo inducing roller coasters perched at the top! And if that's not enough, take a helicopter flight back down the Strip, or just gamble the night away in one of the world-class casinos. Oh and don't forget, 'what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas'.
    Accommodation: Hotel/motel nights included

  • Day 27-28: Route 66 & Grand Canyon National Park

En route to the Grand Canyon you'll drive along a section of the original Route 66, stopping at the town of Seligman; a town full to the brim of pure road trip Americana. Grab a root beer, have a look around and pick up some souvenirs for the folks back home. Now it's time for the ultimate show stopper, the mighty Grand Canyon! Once you've cast your eyes upon the deep canyon landscape you'll understand why this great natural wonder is loved by locals and tourists alike. Pack your boots, camera and water before venturing into the canyon itself along the Bright Angel Trail to Plateau Point. Alternatively, opt for a bird's eye view on a scenic helicopter flight. Watching the sun rise or set over the canyon with the colours changing is simply breathtaking and not to be missed, so enjoy every minute.
    Accommodation: Hotel/motel nights included

  • Day 29: Monument Valley

On the road again and off to one of North America's most iconic landscapes, used as the set for countless Western movies, including the recent remake of The Lone Ranger. Immerse yourself in the native culture on an optional (and highly recommended) guided jeep tour of the Navajo Reservation and back roads.
