TOUR OVERVIEW
"Go West" beyond the Mighty Mississippi and follow the farm belt along the old Pony Express trail. Visit the amazing red rocks of America's Southwest and Monument Valley Indian Lands. On to the Grand Canyon, where the hiking and the views will leave you speechless! Las Vegas provides a welcome break from the desert before heading to Yosemite National Park. We end the journey with a drive across the Bay to the charm and beauty of the city made famous in the Gold Rush of 1849 - San Francisco.

FLEXIBLE ITINERARY
Our routes have been carefully chosen to include the best night stops and highlights. However, as local conditions and passenger requests vary, no two trips will ever be the same. With the guidance of your Trek Leader you may modify certain nightstops and highlights to give a truly unique experience!

Days: 1-3
Amana Colonies, Platte River & Lake McConaughy
The seven villages that make up the Amana Colonies is our first stop. Enjoy a hearty feast prepared in the old-world German style and explore the various craft, furniture, and food shops. Then enjoy a spectacular view of the "Mighty Mo" (Missouri River) from Council Bluffs, where the Indians gathered and the Lewis and Clark Expedition camped. Soon the highway meets the Platte River and passes under the Platte River Road Archway Monument; marking the original trail used by the Pony Express.

Denver & Colorado Rockies
On to Denver - the Mile High City. Explore the beautiful foothills of the Rockies and enjoy some thrilling river rafting en route to the heart of the Colorado Rockies.

Days: 7-8
Arches National Park
Leaving Colorado, our first stop is Moab, here you can hike amongst thousands of majestic sandstone structures in Arches National Park and watch the sun go down behind the most beautiful of them all; Delicate Arch. The following day provides an opportunity to go mountain biking along brilliant red rock trails, or down the old logging roads that climb the Manti La Sal Mountains.

Monument Valley
Take a breath and move on to Monument Valley., where you will experience a beautiful sunset and sunrise. Enjoy an optional native jeep tour into the valley with an Indian guide to better experience and understand the Navajo Nation.

Grand Canyon National Park
Next stop is Grand Canyon National Park, with a full day to experience the grandeur of Earth's natural wonder. Whether you are up with the sun to start your long hike down Bright Angel Trail to Plateau Point, or choose the "bird's eye" view on a scenic flight, you are sure to be left with feelings of awe and amazement.

Las Vegas
Back to the modern world with a bang - Las Vegas - the greatest show on earth! Cruise "The Strip" in a super-stretch limo, indulge in an all-you-can eat buffet, take in a show or just watch the amazing crowds, neon signs and attractions that many hotel casinos have to offer. And if that's not enough, take a helicopter flight down The Strip or just gamble the night away in one of the world class casinos.

Sierra Nevadas, Yosemite and San Francisco
The next morning is a scenic drive through the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the forested granite peaks of Yosemite National Park. Visit the famous giant Sequoia trees, hike the intimidating Half Dome or just experience the natural tranquillity from deep on the valley floor. Yosemite offers pristine wilderness, spectacular scenery and fantastic hiking opportunities. We complete this journey across America's Heartland at the destination of many of this country's earliest settlers - San Francisco!
