Our routes have been carefully chosen to include the best night stops and highlights. However, as local conditions and passenger requests vary, no two trips will ever be the same. With the guidance of your Trek Leader you may modify certain night stops and highlights to give a truly unique experience!

As this tour departs at 0730 we recommend that you book pre-tour accommodation. Please request hotel details at the time of booking.

Day 1-2: New York Area to Washington DC

Head out from New York State and see where America's leaders shape the country's future. Washington's illuminated monuments make for a spectacular first evening and a perfect introduction to the grandeur of the nation's capital. An evening tour shows off the seat of US power, awash with icons like the White House, Jefferson Monument and Capitol Hill. When it comes to DC's museums 'Land of the Free' is spot on: barely any of them, sensational Smithsonian included, will cost you a dime. Later, switch from culture to clubbing in the oh-so-cool lounges around DuPont Circle and Georgetown.

Day 3: Pennsylvania

Turn up the music and enjoy the scenic drive through a countryside that inspired a nation to fight for its freedom. Here is Pennsylvania there are more black bears per square mile than anywhere else in the States and you are rewarded with stunning views along the way. You visit the battle site of Gettysburg which was a turning point in the Civil War. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion", Gettysburg was the war's bloodiest battle with 51,000 casualties. It was also the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address". From here continue onto your campsite for the night.

Day 4: Niagara Falls

From the edge of Lake Ontario, the sensation of crashing water is stupendous and the noise immense from one of America's greatest national attractions, Niagara Falls. Wait 'til you're down on the water aboard the 'Maid of the Mist', where the cascades pound, churn and foam right before your eyes. That's what you call a front row seat!

Day 5: The Berkshires

City folk just can't resist hiding out here in summer and you'll soon figure out why. Trails snake through forested hills and meadow walks skirt quaint clapboard farms. This is 100% New England. There may be time to walk a trail near to the campsite.

Day 6: Boston

Welcome to Bean Town! Relive the Revolution along the Freedom Trail or let Faneuil Hall's street performers, stores and eateries tell their own Bostonian tale. Lounge and watch the locals from the lawns of Boston Common, then pop across to the famous "Cheers" bar.

Day 7: Boston to New York Area

We head back to the Garden State where our adventure began. The remainder of the evening is free to explore before you fly to the Californian West coast the following day. This is a great opportunity to see New York in the evening when it becomes awash with neon.

Day 8: New York area - Fly to Los Angeles

Depending on your departure time, there may be time to explore Fifth Ave, hit the top of the Empire State Building, or soak up the trendy, laidback vibe of Greenwich Village.
Transfer to the airport and after a flight to the cosmopolitan city of Los Angeles, meet your rep and head to the hotel where the remainder of the day is yours to relax or venture out and explore.

Day 9-10: Los Angeles, Colorado River & Grand Canyon

After a short tour of Hollywood we bid the City of Angels farewell and head through California to the vast swathes of Arizona's cactus-prickled desert. After spending an evening along the Colorado River we explore America's premier National Park, and find out why it is called the Grand Canyon. Keep your feet firmly on the ground or swoop above it all on an optional flight. One thing's for sure though, this place looks incredible from any angle, especially walking along the rim at sunset.

Day 11-12: Las Vegas

Next, Las Vegas - the greatest show on earth! The Strip, the shows, the casinos, the clubs; Sin City's glitziest and brashest spots are sure to impress as you cruise the Las Vegas Boulevard on an included limo ride! Hop onto one of the world's highest thrill rides at Vegas' Stratosphere and it won't just be your head that's spinning. And if that's not enough, take a helicopter flight down The Strip or just gamble the night away in one of the world class casinos.

Day 13-14: Yosemite National Park

Heading through Central California we take a scenic drive into the Yosemite National Park region and a chance to hike or bike through the extraordinary landscape of glacier-carved granite monoliths and spectacular waterfalls. Keep your eyes peeled for black bears. Coyote roam freely as well and when the sun goes down, their howling often echoes amidst pines and sequoias. Admit it; this is what clicks the spirit of the great outdoors up a notch or two.

Day 15: San Francisco

On our last day together we head back west through California's gold country, where in 1848 the finding of a single nugget triggered a stampede of gold-seekers known as the 49'ers, before arriving at the home of the beatnik generation, San Francisco.

This tour ends at our gateway hotel at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post-tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.
