Tour Itinerary

As this tour departs at 0730 we recommend that you book pre-tour accommodation. Please request hotel details at the time of booking.

  • Day 1-2: Anchorage & Wrangell-St. Elias National Park

Venture off the main highway for this UNESCO World Heritage site and into the heart of Wrangell-St Elias National Park. Explore the continent's largest assemblage of glaciers and peaks above 16,000 feet. Prepare for some top-notch glacier action with a guided hike, or for a more vertical challenge, try ice climbing on Root Glacier. Why not opt to visit Kennecott Copper Mill Ghost Town or try ice cave trekking for a really unique experience.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 3: Tangle Lakes

Beat a rugged westward path from Wrangell-St Elias. This is a great place to chill out after the scenic drive along the Alaska Mountain Range, crossing the famous 800-mile-long Alaskan Pipeline. If you're feeling active, some wilderness canoeing should up your pulse rate.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 4-6: Denali National Park

En route to Denali, we stop at Gracious House where you have the chance to buy the famed cinnamon rolls. Surrounded by the tallest mountain peaks in North America, Denali National Park is jam-packed with grizzlies, caribou, Dall sheep and wolves, and is so large that the only way of getting around is by bus. You're in luck, as we've thrown in a 2 day pass so you can get out into the wilds and explore the best this enormous expanse has to offer. A dog sled demonstration is included, and amazing photo opportunities await at every turn. Standing at over 20,320 feet, Mount McKinley dominates every view on a blue sky day, and an optional scenic flight will blow you away.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 7: Anchorage

Experience Denali's wilderness up close for a final morning of wilderness adventure. The park rangers actively encourage you to walk anywhere, so the possibilities are endless! En route to Anchorage make a cheeky stop to sample some local culinary delights (Reindeer sausage, anyone?), then sample the sights and nightlife in the state's largest city, Anchorage. But be warned, the six surrounding mountain ranges will soon have you yearning for the wide open country again.
    Accommodation: Hostel included

  • Day 8-10: Seward

Visit Portage Glacier and take the short one mile hike to Byron Glacier, getting close enough to touch it! Follow the Cook Inlet to Resurrection Bay to the coastal town of Seward, known for its unbeatable, spectacular mountain and bay scenery. In Seward there are loads of tours, cruises and activities available but the highlight is your included marine and wildlife cruise where to spot whales and an array of wildlife. Over the next few days, you can choose to take a further cruise to explore Kenai Fjords National Park where glaciers calve huge hunks of ice into the sea with an ear-splitting crack, or for something on land, strap on your hiking boots for the leisurely trip to Exit Glacier or the tougher trek up to Harding Icefields.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 11-12: Homer

Found on the Kenai Peninsula, wraparound summits, the glacier-crafted spit and invigorating beach walks are the perfect warm up for one hearty dinner of ultra-fresh halibut - prepared by you! Your leader will help buy and give advice on cooking your fresh fish dinner but it's all hands on deck! Homer is famous for its bears and whales, and surrounded by wilderness and ocean so there are loads of activities such as kayaking or sea fishing to keep you
entertained. Depending on your budget, why not opt for the dedicated bear viewing trip which is a truly unique chance to spot these mighty animals.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 13: Kenai National Wildlife Refuge

Crossing to the other side of the peninsula, the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge awaits. One word: wow! If you opt for the canoe view, the pine-enclosed lakes often deliver the sight of eagles surveying all from treetop perches or moose grazing by the shore. For more adventure why not go white water rafting, an amazing way to see many of Alaska's wild places.
    Accommodation: Camping included

  • Day 14: Anchorage

With pockets full of postcards and memories we're back from the wilderness. Hit the malls, live music spots or funky Alaskan themed pubs to round off your trip in style.

This tour ends at our gateway hotel at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post-tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.
