BLT Accommodation

We use a combination of hostels, hotels and cabins on the Atlantic BLT. Most cabins are multi-share rooms sleeping 4 to 6 people with shared facilities and hostel nights are generally arranged on a single sex, multi-share basis, subject to availability. Where possible we will keep the group together and try to accommodate couples; however twin rooms cannot be guaranteed. A sleeping bag is not required on this trip.

Day 1-2: New York Area & Washington DC

We leave the New York area and travel onto Washington DC which gives you the ideal introduction to the political, social and cultural history of the United States of America. Take time to explore the very best of America's capital city by people watching in one of the many parks as DC is awash with greenery, exploring the Smithsonian or gazing upon DC's illuminated monuments at night. Why not hit the bars and clubs of Georgetown and discover not only the treasures of this town by day, but also by night. You are sure to love this city!

Day 3: Appalachian Mountains

From the Shenandoah to the rugged natural beauty of the Appalachian Mountains, this elongated expanse of wonderful forest covers a huge, almost unbroken area, over 1500 miles long and often a couple hundred miles wide. It attracts travellers and hikers every year to pound the trails and enjoy the natural views, an awesome contrast to the cities you just came from. The mountains are also home to the American black bear and former haunt of the Cherokee Indians! There may be time for a shorter trail upon arrival.

Day 4-5: Nashville/Memphis

As well as its indelible country music links, Nashville is also the capital of Tennessee and the state's second largest city after Memphis. Situated on the banks of the Cumberland River it was established as a major river port by settlers in 1779. Our time in Nashville is free to explore, what not check out some live music?

Next we head off to Memphis located near the Mississippi River which has a long and colourful past. The highlight of our stop in Memphis is the chance to visit 'Graceland', the home of Elvis Presley and influence on country, blues and rock & roll music as well as the second-most visited private home in the USA after the White House!

Day 6-7: New Orleans

Now we're talking all that jazz! We make our way out to the renowned French Quarter of New Orleans! Hear the real deal at Preservation Hall, echoing with chirpy trumpet and smooth sax or sample a Hurricane at Pat O'Brien's! Along with being famous for an exciting nightlife of food, drink and music, you can also experience the life of Huckleberry Finn as you chug along the Mississippi River, then search for gators on the included Louisiana swamp tour through the mysterious bayous of Cajun country.

Day 8-9: Panama City Beach

Next you head to the Gulf of Mexico's 'Southern Riviera' - Panama City. Home to the finest beach this side of paradise, Panama City Beach Florida offers 27 miles of stunning white sand, crystal clear waters and guaranteed enjoyment in, on or under the water. Enjoy lazy beach days or try your hand at windsurfing or jet skiing the afternoon away. As well as packing your flip-flops, you should also bring your dancing shoes as you hit the hottest haunts all hours at the hippest haunts on the Gulf Coast. You can enjoy some serious beach time to swim and relax in the sun.

Day 10: Florida Coast

You continue along the Florida Coast keeping our eyes peeled for that perfect beach stop. Enjoy another day in paradise to work on your tan in the Sunshine State, or try snorkelling or tubing in one of Florida's many crystal clear natural springs.

Day 11-12: Orlando

No matter what age you are, Disneyworld makes a kid of each of one and all. You have two nights here to pack in as many rides, thrills and fun as possible. Slip-slide around Wet 'n' Wild, be drenched by killer whales at SeaWorld or cross the final frontier at Kennedy Space Center. Get up close to NASA's launch and landing facilities, enjoy interactive simulators, enjoy live shows and have jaw-dropping encounters with massive rockets and the possibility to meet a real life veteran astronaut.

Day 13: Miami

The wonderful city of Miami beckons with miles of golden sand beaches and palm trees; it is easy to see why people flock here every year. Check into one of the cafes and enjoy a spot of people watching, or pre book one of our hop on/hop off bus experiences, which you can pre-book before departure,for the best way to make your way around this city. Seek out SoBe (aka South Beach) to stroll along the art deco seafront or pose with the beautiful people on sugary sand and in ultra-cool nightspots as you celebrate a fantastic trip.

This tour ends at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post-tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.
