BLT Accommodation

We use a combination of hostels, hotels and cabins on the Atlantic BLT. Most cabins are multi-share rooms sleeping 4 to 6 people with shared facilities and hostel nights are generally arranged on a single sex, multi-share basis, subject to availability. Where possible we will keep the group together and try to accommodate couples; however twin rooms cannot be guaranteed. A sleeping bag is not required on this trip.

Our routes have been carefully chosen to include the best night stops and highlights. However, as local conditions and passenger requests vary, no two trips will ever be the same. Day 1-2: Miami & Orlando

You begin in wonderful Miami, home to miles of golden sand beaches and palm trees before heading off to Orlando. It doesn't matter what age you are, Disneyworld makes a big kid of one and all of us. With two nights here, fitting in fun filled, adventure packed thrills and spills is a piece of cake. Slip-slide around Wet 'n' Wild, be drenched by killer whales at SeaWorld or explore the final frontier at the Kennedy Space Center. Plan on a full day to explore NASA Kennedy Space Center launch headquarters, located on a wildlife refuge eight times the size of Manhattan. You can hear about NASA's launch and landing facilities, enjoy interactive simulators, enjoy live shows and have jaw-dropping encounters with massive rockets and the opportunity to meet a real life veteran astronaut.

Day 3: Florida Coast

Head further along the Florida Coast keeping our eyes alert for that perfect beach stop. Enjoy another day in paradise to work on your tan in the Sunshine State, or try tubing or snorkelling in one of Florida's many crystal clear natural springs. It is easy to see why travellers come from the world around to enjoy the Florida Coast.

Day 4-5: Panama City Beach

Next you head onto the Gulf of Mexico's 'Southern Riviera' - Panama City. The best beach this side of paradise, Panama City Beach Florida offers 27 miles of stunning golden sand, emerald waters and enjoyment both above and below the water line. Experience lazy days by the beach or if you are feeling more energetic, why not try windsurfing or jet-skiing your afternoon away. As well as packing your flip-flops for the beach, don't forget your dancing shoes as your throw shapes far into the small hours at the hippest, hottest haunts of the Gulf Coast. Tomorrow may be the perfect day to recover on the beach and soak up the sun.

Day 6-7: New Orleans

Are you ready for rhythm and blues? After reaching New Orleans you head through the incredible French Quarter to marvel at this incredible city. Hear the real deal at Preservation Hall, echoing with smooth trumpet and whispering sax; or sample a Hurricane at Pat O'Brien's! Of course, New Orleans is famous for more than food, drink and music, it also tells stories rich with the life of Huckleberry Finn as you chug along the Mississippi River. Then search for gators on the included Louisiana swamp tour through the mysterious bayous of Cajun country.

Day 8-9: Memphis / Nashville

Memphis is located near the Mississippi River and has a long and colourful past. The highlight of our stop in Memphis is the chance to visit 'Graceland', the home of Elvis Presley and influence on country, blues and rock & roll music as well as the second-most visited private home in the USA after the White House!

Next we head off to Nashville, the capital of Tennessee and the state's second largest city after Memphis. Situated on the banks of the Cumberland River it was established as a major river port by settlers in 1779. Our time in Nashville is free to explore, what not check out some of its indelible country music links?

Day 10: Appalachian Mountains

From the Shenandoah to the natural beauty of the Appalachians. This massive, 1500 mile mountain chain draws in visitors every year for the views and trails and makes for some incredible driving scenery as you travel through lush forests and mountain woodlands. If you like diversity when you travel, this is it! Also home to the American black bear and former haunt of the Cherokee Indians! There may be time to walk one of the shorter trails upon arrival.

Day 11-12: Washington DC

Washington DC, the ideal mix of political, historical and social history and flavour of the United States. Explore the best of America's Capitol - from the Smithsonian to DC's illuminated monuments. During the day the city is awash with greenery so once you're done with sightseeing, go people watching in the parks. Later, switch from culture to clubbing in the oh-so-cool lounges around DuPont Circle and Georgetown. Washington is a great build up to the end of your American journey, but you're not there yet!

Day 13: New York Area

We head back to the Garden State via Pennsylvania. This tour is not scheduled to spend any time in New York City so you may want to book extra hotel nights and explore the sights and sounds of the Big Apple on your own. Splurge along Fifth Ave, hit the top of the Empire State Building, or soak up the trendy, laidback vibe of Greenwich Village before heading home.
