Kick start your Alaskan adventure in the quaint and quirky town of Homer, where fishing and exploring are a way of life. Found at the head of Kachemak Bay on the Kenai Peninsula, Homer is renowned for its bear and whale viewing opportunities. Surrounded by wilderness and ocean, Homer is also called `the cosmic hamlet by the sea' and is a picturesque town with a bustling harbour and dramatic surrounding scenery. Make the most of the fun local activities, such as sea fishing and kayaking as well as the chance for a full day bear viewing tour, which is not to be missed!
Accommodation: Camping included
Day 3-4: Seward & Kenai Fjord National Park
The spectacular coastal town of Seward awaits your arrival and if it's stunning mountain scenery you're after, then you're in the right place! With picturesque views of the bay, as well as its superb location to Kenai Fjords National Park. Seward offers both land-based and marine wildlife as well as a wonderful selection of tours, cruises and activities. Why not head out on a cruise to Kenai Fjords where you can spot Orcas, porpoises and sea otter, and hear glaciers calve huge chunks of ice into the sea with an ear-splitting crack! Or hike the Harding Icefield Trail for a truly epic day!
Accommodation: Camping included
Day 5-6: Denali National Park
Daylight is well and truly on your side in Alaska as summer puts in so many overtime hours this far north, giving you more time to explore this wonderland. Along the way you stop in at Talkeetna for the chance to try some reindeer sausage, before arriving at the awe-inspiring national park for endless views and hiking opportunities. The Denali rangers encourage visitors to get off the beaten track and you'll soon feel like a real explorer as you head out into this vast wilderness. Try and spot the Alaskan `Big Five'; caribou, wolves, Dall Sheep, moose and Grizzly Bears as you hike in the shadows of Mt. McKinley, North America's highest mountain, standing at over 20,320 feet.
Accommodation: Camping included
Day 7: Tangle Lakes
Today you drive along the Denali Highway to the Tangle Lakes. The Tangles Lakes are a picture-perfect place to pitch your tent and spend the night. Lake-splattered green plains stretch to distant mountains, and some wilderness canoeing should up your pulse rate.
Accommodation: Camping included
Day 8-10: Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Anchorage
The scenery just keeps on getting better and better as you take the scenic road along the Alaska Mountain Range. Untended trails, unpaved roads and unending views for the next two days are exactly what you signed up for! As the Wrangell Mountains cast their lengthy shadow, ready yourself for some top-notch glacier action. How about a guided hike on the Kennecott Glacier, or for a more vertical challenge, grab an axe for a spot of ice-climbing on Root Glacier. Finally, with pockets full of postcards and memories we're back from the wilderness and into civilisation. Anchorage is a city that has it all, heaps of local walking trails, shops aplenty and a great bar and restaurant scene. We suggest staying a few extra nights after the tour to explore.
Accommodation: Camping included (x 2 nights)
This tour ends at our gateway hotel at approximately 18:00 hrs. We can book you post-tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 22:00 hrs.
