Our Alaska trips pass through rugged terrain and isolated areas. Some areas will have spartan facilities and little nightlife.
We use a combination of hostels, hotels and camping cabins on the Alaskan BLT. Most cabins are multi-share rooms sleeping 4 to 6 people with shared facilities and hostel nights are generally arranged on a single sex, multi-share basis, subject to availability. Where possible we will keep the group together and try to accommodate couples; however twin rooms cannot be guaranteed. A sleeping bag is required on the trip.
Want even more adventure? We offer a wild Alaskan bear viewing tour, from US$639, available before or after your trip. Contact us for more information or click here to view more >
Why not arrange your own TrekAmerica departure? For groups of 8 or more, we can offer private departures on any of our published itineraries enabling friends, families or organizations to enjoy our classic "Trek" style of travel at special rates. Although tours will run as per our standard itinerary shown here, slight modifications may be considered and dates can be chosen to suit your needs. (Subject to seasonal/operational restrictions). So contact us today and start planning your own adventure.
Flexible Itinerary
Our routes have been carefully chosen to include the best night stops and highlights. However, as local conditions and passenger requests vary, no two trips will ever be the same. With the guidance of your Trek Leader you may modify certain night stops and highlights to give a truly unique experience!

Day 1-2: Anchorage & Wrangell-St. Elias National Park
Leaving Anchorage we test the challenging McCarthy Road, heading north past the massive Mantanuska Glacier. This humongous expanse claims Alaska's wild crown hands down. Untended trails, unpaved roads and unending views for the next 2 days are exactly what you signed up for! As the Wrangell Mountains cast their lengthy shadow, ready yourself for some top-notch glacier action. How about a guided hike on the Kennecott Glacier, or for a more vertical challenge, grab the axe for ice climbing on Root Glacier.

Great name and great place to chill out after the challenging, yet scenic, drive along the Alaska Mountain Range, crossing the famous 800-mile-long Alaskan Pipeline. Lake-splattered green plains stretch to distant mountains, and some wilderness canoeing should up your pulse rate.

You'll be glad summer puts in so many overtime hours of daylight this far north. It's time to get stuck into the vast expanse of Denali National Park. Travel the lone road in this awe-inspiring national park for two full days of endless views and hiking opportunities. Snap a few shots of moose, caribou, fox and of course grizzly bear on our scenic bus ride and hike in the shadows of Mt. McKinley. Standing at over 20,320 feet, North America's highest mountain dominates every view on a blue sky day.

Day 8-9: Homer
Found at the head of Resurrection Bay on the Kenai Peninsula and made famous for its access to bear and whale viewing and made famous as 'The End of the Road' in Tom Bodett's tales. Homer is at the end of the Sterling Highway surrounded by wilderness and ocean, also called "the cosmic hamlet by the sea" and is a picturesque town with a bustling harbour and dramatic surrounding scenery. It is the perfect place for you to taste some of the local activities to make the most of your time. Among these include sea fishing and kayaking which rate among the top things to do in this area.
