Our routes have been carefully chosen to include the best overnight stops, highlights and included experiences, with plenty of optional activities to choose from. No two Trek trips are the same, with stops at some of your tour leader's favourite places and occasional changes to the itinerary, so get ready for one awesome adventure!

Tonight it's time to meet your tour leader and group, but arrive early to see the sights or add some extra hotel nights before the start of your tour to really explore the city.

Buenos Aires is a fine introduction to your South American adventure and known as the `Paris of South America', so make sure you enjoy the lovely green parks, plazas and wide boulevards. Explore the eclectic local neighbourhoods and don't miss the famous Recoleta Cemetery where Eva Peron and many other rich and famous Argentines are buried. Why not get straight into the swing of things with a tango show, while tucking into some of the best and juiciest steaks known to man or your first glass of Argentinian red wine.

Your journey to Uruguay kicks off with a ferry ride to the picture-perfect town of Colonia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Colonia was originally founded by the Portuguese governor of Rio as the perfect spot for smuggling goods to Buenos Aires, but now it's a popular weekend destination for the local Argentine visitors who flock here and you'll soon see why. Your tour leader will take you on a walking tour and show you the Spanish and Portuguese influenced architecture of the Barrio Histórico (old quarter). Wander the quaint cobbled streets and snap away to your heart's content at the scenic waterfront. Then it's time to hit the road for our next destination, Montevideo.

From Montevideo, head out to the countryside and live out your cowboy fantasies on an included excursion to a nearby estancia - an authentic cattle ranch. Enjoy a traditional lunch with the rolling hills as your backdrop. Opt for some horse riding through the fields to really get into the gaucho culture, or if you just want to kick back and relax then you can always tour the estancia in a tractor-drawn trailer! This is the life!

It's time to hit the beach! The glitzy resort of Punta del Este is the ideal setting for a refreshing swim, or maybe you'd like to check out the yacht harbour where you can see the toys of the rich and famous. Enjoy a night out at one of Punta's many glamourous bars and famous clubs, where all the Argentinian celebs hang out.

Chill out in Punta del Este or catch a bus to the quiet coastal town of Piriapolis to climb the hill of San Antonio or just relax on the beach. Then it's time to take the journey to Brazil, heading to Florianopolis by overnight bus. As the saying goes, good things come to those who wait and once you reach Florianopolis you'll understand why! The city spans both the mainland and Santa Catarina Island which are connected by spectacular bridges. A short bus ride will take you to Florianopolis' golden beaches for some play time or if you fancy riding the waves then you'll find plenty of options for surfboard hire locally. With time to explore you can head out of town to Santa Catarina Island and stretch your legs hiking to a beautiful waterfall along one of the Lagoa Conceicao trails; but if you would rather take it easy then you can always catch a boat one way (or both ways!).

Get your cultural fix at the Metropolitan Cathedral or take the Linha Turismo (hop on hop off bus) to explore the botanical gardens and other top highlights. Sweet!

Take a short flight to Foz, the gateway to the immense Iguazu Falls. The falls sit deep in the South American jungle and you'll definitely hear them before you see them! To give you two very different perspectives, we include a visit from both the Argentinian and Brazilian side (you're welcome!). At Foz, an incredible 275 separate waterfalls cascade over the cliff face and you can enjoy panoramic views of the falls that are over on the Argentinian side, or opt for an epic helicopter ride for a bird's-eye view over the entire falls. From the Argentinian side, you'll gaze down at the famous Garganta del Diablo (`Devil's Throat'), where fourteen waterfalls drop with such incredible force that there's always a massive cloud of spray overhead - a real wow moment! If you feel like you still haven't seen it from every possible angle, you can even take a zodiac boat ride up the river and under the falls!

Eco Tourism Tax: the Argentinian government has introduced an Eco Tourism Tax of ARG20pp (approx. US$2) to be paid on arrival when visiting the Argentinian side of Iguazu Falls.

Of course you'll want to check out some of the city's famous landmarks like Sugarloaf Mountain, and you could embrace your active streak with a hike on the Corcovado Mountain trail up to the Christ the Redeemer statue for awesome views over Rio. Why not toast the end of your adventure with a cheeky caipirinha and break out those killer dance moves for a night of samba before you say goodbye to your new-found friends.
