What is a BOLT?
BOLT Tours are our new style of hotel based travel across America, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. It's still the same great TrekAmerica experience, but using the most appropriate and affordable style of travel for the countries we visit. You'll stay in a mix of hotels and hostels, with most nights on a twin or triple share basis. Buses, collectivos, taxis, ferries and overnight buses get you from A to B, so you get to see the best that these awesome countries have to offer whilst travelling the same way the locals do, with the help and security of your local tour leader, and for a decent price.

What's included on a BOLT tour?
All of your travel and accommodation is included on our Central America holidays, plus loads of extras which make the TrekAmerica style of travel so special.
> Incredible sights and sounds - Jaw-dropping landscapes, volcanoes, beaches, deserts, jungle, waterfalls, star-gazing and local culture are all to be soaked up on a BOLT trip.
> TrekAmerica expertise - Each time you rock up in a new city, your local leader will show you around and tell you what's good, from places of interest to colourful markets to live music venues, you'll find something you love.
> Cultural sites and local experiences - entrance fees to Mayan ruins, island-hopping, soaking in natural hot springs, tequila tastings and authentic cultural experiences.
> Different styles of travel - Travel by water taxis, overnight ferries, 'collectivos' (small local buses), and a combination of first class and local buses to immerse yourself in the culture.
> Lots of free time to explore the amazing cities, towns and villages to give you a well-rounded experience on your terms.

How does it work?
All of our BOLT trips have been designed to fit together so you can travel all the way from L.A down to San Jose in one go, or break it down into smaller sections if you're short on time. The trips also run in reverse so you can choose to travel South to North. Selected departures also BOLT on to our existing North America trips, such as the Southern Sun, Westerner 2 and Trailblazer. You could potentially BOLT together our epic 64 day Trailblazer and our 45 day LA to San Jose and do a loop of The States and then head down to San Jose, and have yourself one heck of an adventure spanning 110 days!
