If you arrive early, you'll have plenty of time to explore the city before your arrival meeting with your new Trek mates and tour leader at 18:00 hrs in the hotel lobby. The gateway to Canada's Rocky Mountains, Vancouver mixes easy urban life with a love of the great outdoors. There aren't many cities in the world where you can take in the mountains in the morning and then head to the beach in the afternoon. The city's coffee scene is legendary, as is its obsession with craft beers. If you're looking for a laid-back place to just chill for a few days before heading off into the mountains, then Vancouver is the place.
You're in mountain territory now and if these views are anything to go by, you can rest assured that the next few days are going to be epic. Situated on the banks of the Columbia River, the fresh air and freedom of this small mountain town encourages people from all over the world to come and get their adventure on. This place will most definitely whet your appetite for things to come!
Breathe it all in, as fresh air doesn't get much fresher than this! Banff is one of Canada's most loved national parks. Canadians are fiercely proud of this natural wonderland, so be thankful that you have two days to wander, explore and get under the skin of this epic mountain town. Make sure you waste no time in heading to the trails; with over 1,600 trails to choose from, you're spoilt for choice. One of the most popular trails leads up to the top of Sulphur Mountain. It might not be one of the easiest hikes you've ever done, but the views sure are worth the effort! If you're not a keen hiker you can take a gondola ride to the top and still get in on those awesome views! If you want to avoid dizzying heights, hit the shops around town or head to Bow Falls, which is really scenic and a nice place to chill for the day. This alpine oasis knows how to party and with tons of bars and restaurants for you to hang out in, the opportunities for fun are endless!
You've no doubt seen endless photos of this beautiful place on your Instagram, but trust us when we say there's nothing quite like seeing Lake Louise for yourself. And yes, it really is that blue! If you've got the urge to hit the trails again, you're in luck. There are loads of hikes, but one of the best is to the Plain of Six Glaciers Tea House. You'll walk along the lakeshore and witness some of the most beautiful scenery that no amount of photo taking will do justice, so switch off and enjoy the views. At the far end of the lake you'll reach the tea house, so put your feet up and treat yourself to some fresh lemonade, you've earnt it. Head back to the Chateau Lake Louise and hire a canoe for some watery fun and to see Lake Louise from a different perspective. This 'gem of the Rockies' will no doubt leave you wondering what could possibly be next, oh boy are you in for a surprise! Jasper National Park, here we come!
Sit tight, you're about to take a drive down Alberta's most scenic stretch of road, the Icefields Parkway. With mountain peaks everywhere you look, you'll soon be in a photo frenzy to get that ultimate shot. This day just keeps on getting better as you pull up to the Athabasca Glacier to see Mother Nature in her element. Ever stepped foot on an active glacier? Well after your included glacier snow coach tour, you will have! The glacier is rapidly melting so make the most of your time here because in years to come it will have vanished and you can boast that you saw the glacier in all its icy glory! This evening you overnight in Jasper. Make sure you look up at the night sky this evening as Jasper is a dark sky preserve, which basically means the stargazing here is out of this world!
Another day of epic scenery and adventure awaits, so what's first? How about jumping on a mountain bike and pedalling your way past beautiful mountain lakes and through pine clad forests? Chill out or dive in for a refreshing swim, whatever floats your boat! Got a head for heights? Ride the Jasper Sky Tram to the top of Whistler Mountain; at the top you'll be rewarded with yet more incredible views. You're not the only thing out here enjoying this unspoilt wilderness, so keep an eye out for Grizzly Bears, wolves and caribou. After all the excitement of the day the only way to relax is by dressing up in a traditional 1940s swimsuit (optional) and taking a dip in a lush mountain hot spring, perfection!
Today you make your way to Kamloops, BC's friendliest city, but not before you and your Trek crew stop at a viewpoint to see the magnificent peak of Mount Robson, the highest mountain in the Rockies. Tonight make sure you get plenty of shut-eye, because tomorrow you're off to the adventure capital of Western Canada, Whistler!
Whistler may be known as a ski destination but it has so much more to offer than just snow, that's a fact! With heaps of trails to choose from, Whistler is hiker's heaven. For vistas of the spectacular kind, end your Canadian adventure on a high and ride the gondola or chairlift to the top of Blackcomb Mountain. If you feel the need for speed, there can be only one option: zip lining from one mountain to the next on the world's longest zip wire. It's insanely awesome and you really can't leave Whistler without trying it! Whistler attracts adventure seekers from all over the world and after spending a couple of days exploring and having fun here you'll soon see why! This is your last night as a group so make it one to remember, Whistler style!
Today you arrive back in 'Van City' where your tour comes to an end.
