What's Included

Take a moment to add up all the costs of doing it yourself, including public transportation, camping fees, accommodation, local attractions, national park entry fees or car-hire and fuel, and it soon becomes clear that a TrekAmerica tour offers incredible value for money.

By sharing travelling expenses and choosing your own level of adventure with loads of optional activities on offer, you're able to tailor your tour to your own taste and budget.

  • All Accommodation

Whether you choose a camping or budget lodging tour, all your accommodation during the trip is included in the price of your tour.

On camping tours we provide all the necessary equipment including high quality tents, a padded roll mat to sleep on, camp lights, food storage containers and cooking equipment. All you need to bring is a sleeping bag! Most camping trips will also have some nights spent at hotels or hostels in cities included in the cost. On lodging tours you'll stay in clean, comfortable accommodation that offers a great location and value for money.

  • All transport

In North America you'll travel in a private van, this offers great flexibility and convenience and guarantees to get you further off the beaten path than you ever could using the North American public transport system. Having your own private van driven by your Tour Leader means the journeys are really part of the fun. Our vans are also equipped with WiFi (USA & Alaska only) so you can keep in touch from the road.

On our BOLT (Buses or local transport) tours in Central America, we offer something a little different. On these tours you'll get around using buses, water taxis and collectivos, these varied modes of transport mean you get around affordably and ensure you get to experience local life.

  • An experienced TrekAmerica tour leader

Sure, it's possible to get around on your own, but the vast distances and limitless options available can be daunting. Our tour leaders know the best places to go, how to get there and what to do when you arrive, ensuring you make the most of every moment.

  • Included activities unique to each tour

There's always something happening on a TrekAmerica tour, and many of the must-do activities are included in the price. From overnight cowboy camps to canoeing in the Canadian wilderness, we offer more inclusions in the price than any other operator. Check out the individual tour page to see what excited activities you'll be experiencing on your Trek.

Canadian Rafting Group
  • All National Park entrance fees

Most national parks in America charge an entrance fee of up to US$25 per park. But don't worry, when you travel with TrekAmerica, you won't pay any national park entry fees as these are all included in your tour.

Merced River, Yosemite
  • No single supplements

When you travel with TrekAmerica as a single traveller you won't pay a single supplement. The majority of our Trekkers are travelling alone, and you'll share a tent or room with another single traveller of the same sex.

  • Our Food Kitty system

On camping trips everyone contribute US$10 a day to a food kitty. We'll purchase food as a group along the way and prepare healthy and delicious meals at a fraction of the cost of eating out every night. This kitty covers 3 meals a day whilst camping. Occasionally we'll eat at a restaurant, each paying our own way. There's no Food Kitty on our lodging trips, all meals are paid for locally, although your Tour Leader may suggest an optional breakfast or lunch kitty to keep costs down.

  • Optional Activities

In addition to the many included highlights and activities, there are also lots of optional activities for you to choose from during your trip. We keep these optional so you have the flexibility to do the things you want to and leave out the things you don't, according to taste and budget.
