  • 2015 TOUR ITINERARY

    The following itinerary is applicable for all 2015 departures. For the 2014 itinerary, please scroll down.

  • Day 1-2: New York Area, Philadelphia & Washington DC (2015)

    Strap on your boxing gloves and head for Philadelphia's famous `Rocky' steps and recreate a piece of movie history. Cast your eyes on Independence Hall where brave men gathered at the Pennsylvania State House and defied the King of England which helped shape U.S Constitution. Why not peruse the Reading Terminal Market and if all this action has got you hungry, grab yourself an iconic Philly cheese steak one of the many famous local specialities not to be missed! Washington DC is next on the agenda and you will really enjoy the grandeur of the nation's capital. From the impressive Smithsonian Museums to the White House and the city's trendy bars, the capital has something for everyone. Why not hire a bike to cover more ground and then take advantage of the great nightlife in Georgetown, an evening view of the illuminated monuments is worth checking out too.

  • Day 3: Appalachian Mountains (2015)

    You'll certainly appreciate the grand views of the rolling green slopes of the Appalachian Mountains as you cruise through Virginia. The numerous trails are calling out your name, so strap on your walking boots and stretch those legs with a memorable walk through the lush national forests. With photo opportunities around every bend, make sure you also keep an eye out for Appalachian residents such as cougars, deers, black bear and great horned owl, this really is a magical place.

  • Day 4: Ocoee, Tennessee (2015)

    Next up is the hard-hitting State of Tennessee where you overnight in Ocoee. In 1996 the world's eyes were on Ocoee as it hosted the world's first Olympic white water event and still to this day it boasts some of the world's best rafting. Don a life jacket, grip a paddle and bounce along an exhilarating stretch of white water on an optional rafting trip, but don't forget to look up as you'll fly past some pretty awesome scenery. For those of you not keen on the rapids, there are a number of surrounding trails to explore, so don't forget your camera.

  • Day 5: Nashville (2015)

    From Honky Tonk bars to The Grand Ole Opry, they don't call Nashville the `centre of the music world' for nothing! This place is full of life and you'll be hot footing your way from one country bar to the next. Find out all about the history of music at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, home to the largest collection of country music in the world. Even if Country isn't your thing, there's live bands everywhere you go, so you're sure to be singing along by the end of the day.

  • Day 6: Memphis (2015)

    Turn up that radio you're about to hit Memphis, the birthplace of Rock `n' Roll! With that in mind why not visit Sun Studios the home of Rock `n' Roll which opened in 1950, a place where many great names have passed through. Stroll along Beale Street where the electric atmosphere will keep you entertained for hours as you listen out for some of the best Jazz and Blues music in town. There is more to Memphis than just music, pay a visit to the National Civil Rights Museum located in the former Lorraine Hotel and see the place where Martin Luther King was assassinated.

  • Day 7-8: New Orleans (2015)

    Beyond Mississippi we hit Louisiana, home of the Big Easy. Here in jazz central, sultry bass and chirpy rhythms are king, New Orleans is definitely a city every music fan must make a pilgrimage to at least once in their lifetime. Head into the enchanting French Quarter and hear the real deal at Preservation Hall, before tucking into some classic and delicious Southern cuisine. If you don't want to stop at just eating the likes of gumbo and jamabalaya, why not take part in an optional New Orleans cookery class and really impress the folks back home. Make a beeline for the notorious nightlife of Bourbon Street, where almost anything goes. New Orleans is a place full of life and is a place you won't forget in a long, long time.

  • Day 9: Louisiana, Texas (2015)

    Look for gators on our optional Louisiana swamp tour through the mysterious bayous of Cajun country (a must do!). The Lone Star bids you a big-hearted welcome for the first of your four nights in mighty Texas.

  • Day 10-11: Austin, Texas (2015)

    The music keeps on flowing as you arrive in Austin, another place which vies for the title of capital of America's music scene. Austin is an electric, cultural and artistic city which packs a punch. Live music can be heard almost any night of the week, so after a day of exploring, hit up the city for a dose of top shelf music and of course as the drinks start flowing, lots and lots of dancing.

  • Day 12: North Texas (2015)

    A state which is larger than some countries is the biggest state in the continental USA and is also home to plenty of delicious Mexican-American cuisine, `Tex-Mex', spicy fajitas and tacos. Hitch up in Fort Stockton and opt for a historical tour of this frontier army post, active from 1867-1886. If you want to cover more ground, Balmorhea is a great place to stop to enjoy the crystal-clear water of the world's largest spring-fed swimming pool. Swim, scuba dive, or just relax under the trees.

  • Day 13: Santa Fe (2015)

    For all the art lovers out there Santa Fe is the one for you, visit Canyon Road, home to art galleries, cultural treasures such as hand-woven Navajo rugs, historic adobe buildings and a vibrant restaurant scene. Santa Fe will definitely win you over with its laid back charm and with tons of festivals and events throughout the year, you're bound to stumble upon something interesting.

  • Day 14: Monument Valley (2015)

    Monument Valley is by far one of the most photographed places in America and as soon as you lay eyes on it you will understand why. Immerse yourself in the native Navajo culture on an included guided jeep tour of the Navajo Reservation and back roads. Experience the home of the real `Wild West' as you stand in front of one of the most iconic landscapes in the area, Monument Valley. Marvel at the sight of towering buttes and mesas which dominate the awe-inspiring landscape. You won't find a better location to swap campfire stories under a blanket of stars.

  • Day 15-16: Grand Canyon National Park (2015)

    No trip west is complete without a stop at the mighty Grand Canyon to experience the grandeur of one of the Earth's natural wonders. Pack your boots and don't forget your camera for a sunrise/sunset hike along the rim. For the more ambitious take the long hike down Bright Angel Trail to Plateau Point or take to the sky and see the Grand Canyon in all its glory on an optional helicopter flight. The Grand Canyon is magnificent from any angle, but one thing is for sure you will never forget your first glimpse of the canyon, whether it be from a walk along the rim or the ultimate birds eye view.

  • Day 17-18: Lake Powell & Zion National Park (2015)

    Without a doubt one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Southwest, Horseshoe Bend makes for an impressive stop, before washing off the desert dust in the refreshing waters of Lake Powell. Straddling the border of Utah and Arizona, Lake Powell is desert paradise with a long list of things to do. Go for a swim in the crystal clear waters or simply sit by the shore and relax. Then it's on to epic Zion National Park where you can get unbelievable 360 degree views of the entire National Park with a hike up to Angels Landing. Whether you're up top or down below Zion National Park will blow your mind and you're guaranteed one heck of a great time here.

  • Day 19-20: Las Vegas (2015)

    Time to put those lucky numbers to the test, not to mention your energy levels in this 24/7 party town. A-list stars swarm here, although breaking the bank may be easier than blagging your way into their swanky celebrity hangouts. If that fails you can still cruise The Strip in a super-stretch limousine or ease the pain in one of the famous all-you-can-eat buffets. But Vegas isn't all about gambling and clubs, why not check out a show, take an evening flight down the Strip or get yourself hitched by Elvis Presley (don't worry it's not legally binding, unless you want it to be).

  • Day 21: Las Vegas & Los Angeles (2015)

    Say goodbye to the bright lights of Las Vegas and hello to the beautiful Californian sunshine with your final stop in glitzy Los Angeles. Check out the Hollywood Walk of Fame as well as a lookout spot to see the Hollywood sign, before heading to Venice Beach boardwalk and then sadly your epic road trip must come to an end, but don't worry you'll have 21 days of awesome memories to take home with you.

    This tour ends at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post-tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 22:00 hrs.

  • Day 1-2: New York Area, Philadelphia & Washington DC (2014)

    We head out of the New York area and on to Philadelphia where we have the chance to break a sweat climbing up the famous 'Rocky' steps, see the symbol of American independence the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall and opt for an early Philly cheese steak lunch. Why not hit the Reading Terminal Market awash with colour where you can try the local delicacies on sale. Next up is Washington DC, the perfect introduction to the social, cultural and political history of the United States. As the sun sets, why not head out for an illuminated view of the best of America's Capitol - from the Smithsonian Museum to the Lincoln Memorial and Washington's other famous monuments. During the day the city is awash with greenery, so once you're done with sightseeing, go people watching in the parks or take advantage of the great nightlife in Georgetown! A great way to see the city is to explore by bike at your own pace.

  • Day 3: Appalachian Mountains (2014)

    You'll need no second invitation to appreciate the grand views of the rolling green slopes of the Appalachian Mountains in Virginia. There is time for a short walk in the Appalachians to show you the reason why thousands flock here every year.

  • Day 4: Ocoee, Tennessee (2014)

    Next up is the hard-hitting State of Tennessee where we overnight in Ocoee. In 1996 the world's eyes were on Ocoee as it hosted the world's first Olympic white water event on a natural river and you have the chance to don a life jacket, grip a paddle and bounce along a churning stretch of white water on an optional rafting trip.   • Day 5: Birmingham, Alabama (2014)

    License plates proclaim you're in the 'Heart of Dixie', and the radio pumps out a playlist of blues and country tunes. Birmingham's Civil Rights Institute and the Chickamauga Battlefield guarantee an A+ in American history.

  • Day 6-7: New Orleans (2014)

    Beyond Mississippi we hit Louisiana, home of the Big Easy & Bourbon Street. Now we're talking all that jazz! Every music fan must make a pilgrimage here at least once in their lifetime. We head into the enchanting French Quarter of New Orleans and hear the real deal at Preservation Hall, echoing with chirpy trumpets and smooth sax. New Orleans has more than just food, drink and music to offer, so after sampling a Hurricane at Pat O'Brien's do the Huckleberry Finn thing and chug along the Mississippi River. By staying right in the historic French Quarter you are right in the thick of it!

  • Day 8: Louisiana/Texas (2014)

  • Day 9-10: San Antonio (2014)

    Don your Davy Crockett hat and check out the Alamo, symbol of Texan pride and independence from Mexico. Included is a stroll on the Paseo del Rio, and if your Spanish is shaky that's the cobbled 'river walk', bursting with greenery, cafes and boutiques. This is one of the unmissable excursions whilst in San Antonio but other excellent options include the Western Shooting Range or a visit to the Majestic Theatre.

  • Day 11: West Texas (2014)

    The biggest state in the continental USA is also home to plenty of Mexican-American cuisine, `Tex-Mex', including spicy fajitas and tacos. Hitch up in Fort Stockton and opt for a historical tour of this frontier army post, active from 1867-1886, if you want to cover more ground, Balmorhea is a great place to stop and has a cool mineral springs to relax in.

  • Day 12: Carlsbad Cavern National Park (2014)

    Do you know your stalactite from your stalagmite? Carlsbad Caverns boasts over 100 limestone caves sporting glinting minerals and telling names like the Hall of the White Giant and Green Lake Room. Rocky slopes and canyons, cactus, grass, thorny shrubs, and the occasional tree... who could guess at the hidden treasures deep underground?

  • Day 13: Roswell & Santa Fe (2014)

    Alien spotting in Roswell could be on the cards, and with the vast desert stretching out before you, you'll need to keep a sharp eye out for these extraterrestrial beings! Tonight, Santa Fe is sure to work its charm on you with its artsy vibe and best Tex-Mex food in the USA.

  • Day 14: Monument Valley (2014)

    Venturing into the desert southwest, we hit iconic Monument Valley, used in countless Hollywood scenes from Westerns to 2001: A Space Odyssey and Forest Gump. It is also the most photographed place in America and for good reason. Get 4x4-bound and flit between towering buttes and massive mesas. This is sacred Navajo land; take home their secrets, legends and the odd handcrafted keepsake. Tonight, experience a stunning sunset overlooking the valley.

  • Day 15-16: Grand Canyon National Park (2014)

    No trip west is complete without a stop at the Grand Canyon and we have a full day tomorrow to experience the grandeur of one of the Earth's natural wonders. Pack your boots and don't forget your camera for a sunrise/sunset hike along the rim. For the more ambitious take the long hike down Bright Angel Trail to Plateau Point or choose the "bird's eye" view on a scenic flight. As you watch the sinking sun paint it amber, maroon and red, its breathtaking immensity will still blow you away.

  • Day 17: Lake Powell (2014)

    Without doubt one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Southwest, Horseshoe Bend makes for an impressive stop, before washing off the desert dust in the refreshing waters of Lake Powell. Swim the deep blue water or just sit back on the shore and soak up the powerful rays of this beautiful and surreal man-made desert oasis.

  • Day 18: Zion National Park (2014)

    Onwards to Zion National Park and explore the hidden canyons or maybe hike to Angels Landing for incredible views over the valley floor, as well as being an exceptional lunch spot. Okay, so getting up there can be devilish at times, but the famous trail puts on a full 360-degree display of this magnificent national park.

  • Day 19-20: Las Vegas (2014)

    With a sudden burst of neon, Vegas is right in your face - the greatest show on earth. Watch out though - some dub this place 'Lost Wages'! Cruise "The Strip" in our included super-stretch limo, indulge in an all-you-can eat buffet, take in a show or just watch the amazing crowds and neon signs as the glitzy hotels try to outdo each other with spectacular attractions. And if that's not enough, take a helicopter flight back down The Strip, buy tickets to a show or just gamble the night away in one of the world class casinos. Oh and there's a saying here: Wwhat happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"!

  • Day 21: Los Angeles (2014)

    Our final leg of the journey today has us driving past Joshua Trees to our final stop on the tour, the 'City of Angeles'.but it's not over just yet! With the California sunshine on your face you hit Hollywood Boulevard for a stroll along the Walk of Fame and photo of that massive Hollywood sign. Your tour comes to a close, leaving you with 21 days of action packed memories!
